SOUTHERN VIEW Tuesday October 11 2016 11 Children put their stealth skills to the test recently in the Air Force Museum of New Zealand’s latest school holiday programme, Spy Games. As part of the programme, children had to negotiate a laser field made of string, rescue an Air Force Museum agent and search for a “dangerous device” to save the day. PHOTO: DANIELLE COLVIN Young dancer to train in New York • By Georgia O’Connor-Harding WESTMORLAND resident Nicky Marshall is fundraising to travel to a renowned dance studio in the heart of Times Square, New York. The 20-year-old aspiring National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art student will spend his summer in the Big Apple after he was accepted into the Broadway Dance Center. Marshall will participate in a three-month intensive dance course to help him develop his career as a professional artist. He was inspired to apply for the programme after New Yorkbased choreographer Jim Cooney ran a class at NASDA while judging the New Zealand Dance Awards last year. Marshall is hoping he will have the opportunity to train under Cooney and return to Christchurch with greater technique and ability. To fundraise for the trip, he has set up a Givealittle page to raise about $4800 to cover his tuition and travel costs.
