Senior Sergeant Stephan
McDaniel said police are aware
of the ongoing issues with youths
congregating at the bus lounge.
He said the problem is mostly
during the late afternoon, weekends
and school holidays.
“To address the issue police
are working with retailers in the
area, local youth workers, the
city council, mall and bus exchange
security,” Senior Sergeant
McDaniel said.
He said as a result of the multiorganisation
approach, police
have seen a decrease in reports of
anti-social behaviour.
The other 17 recommendations
are still being investigated by staff
and reports will be presented to
the community board and then to
the city council.
Community board chairman
Mike Mora said he hopes the
recommendations will be in place
by the end of November.
