In August 2016 SchoolCare undertook a complete refit of the ICT<br />
Suite @ <strong>Dairy</strong> <strong>Meadow</strong> <strong>Primary</strong> School, Southall, transforming<br />
their previous ICT Suite into a functional multi-purpose<br />
space with an additional PPA area and reprographics room.<br />

<strong>Dairy</strong> <strong>Meadow</strong> <strong>Primary</strong> School, is a school with a strong ethos to Enjoy,<br />
Educate, Embrace and Empower. The school achieves this by offering a<br />
happy stimulating environment in which children can acquire the skills,<br />
knowledge and concepts which are relevant to their future.<br />
THE CHALLENGE<br />
SchoolCare were invited to tender for the overhaul of the ICT Suite<br />
at <strong>Dairy</strong> <strong>Meadow</strong> <strong>Primary</strong> School. The previous ICT suite was in good<br />
order, however the school did not feel it was a good use of the available<br />
space and with space in the school at a premium, it was felt that<br />
the investment in a multipurpose space would benefit the school.<br />
The previous ICT suite was set out in forward facing rows and was<br />
used by teachers as both a teaching and PPA space. The rows were<br />
very wide and offered little in terms of flexibility should the space<br />
need to be used for any other purpose.<br />
The existing “flip” desk solution also posed challenges for the<br />
maintenance of hardware as well as cable management and<br />
aesthetics. At the time of the initial meeting, the school expressed<br />
a desire for the PC provision in the ICT suite to be overhauled to set<br />
off the new furniture.<br />
Discussions with the school during the design process highlighted a<br />
need for a separate PPA space (ideally within the ICT suite), which<br />
provided a place for teachers to work as well as offering some<br />
privacy away from the suite itself. This requirement was factored<br />
into the final design.<br />
The school’s requirement for a multi-purpose space was satisfied<br />
by the proposed design, however the school also required a flexible<br />
furniture solution to take advantage of this additional space.<br />
THE SOLUTION<br />
SchoolCare’s in-house design team were able to generate multiple<br />
3D designs immediately after the initial visit, to allow the school<br />
to visualise what their new learning space would look like. The<br />
visualisation process allowed the school to see everything from<br />
flooring and furniture colour, to ICT equipment placement and<br />
layout.<br />
Over a 30 year history SchoolCare has forged close working<br />
relationships with a number of well known and respected furniture
designers and manufacturers.<br />
This allows access to a wealth<br />
of options to turn the 3D Visuals<br />
into reality.<br />
SchoolCare leveraged inhouse<br />
resources to manage and<br />
implement the entire project,<br />
which included; internal<br />
partitioning works, new custom<br />
furniture, electrical modification<br />
and data modification works.<br />

included the internal building<br />
works, installation of ICT suite<br />
furniture and any electrical and<br />
data modification works.<br />
SchoolCare supplied flexible<br />
“sector” tables for the multipurpose<br />
space in the ICT Suite.<br />
This furniture can be arranged in<br />
multiple ways to suit the activity<br />
and paired with the seating from<br />
the edges of the room ensures<br />
the room is truly multi-purpose.<br />
As an ICT provider, SchoolCare<br />
supplied and installed 30<br />
new Dell 3020 All in One<br />
Workstations as part of the<br />
ICT Suite Installation works.<br />
