The Games were designed with a very clear goal, to provide South Island year 7 & 8 students with an opportunity to develop their individual sporting skills while representing their school in a multi day, team sport tournament. With the support of many local individuals and organisations the 2016 Koru Games will again be a spectacle not to be missed. The third edition of the Games will this year offer ten sports for the sporting youth of the South Island. All ten sports will be hosted at fantastic Selwyn sporting venues in four hubs; Lincoln, Rolleston, Lincoln University & Prebbleton. The three day tournament format allows plenty of time not only for matches to be played but also for time in between matches for growth through watching and interacting with their peers. All important factors in the development of entrants’ individual skillsets. There are also opportunities within the Games for aspiring officials and coaches to develop their skills and Selwyn Sports Trust welcomes expressions of interest for these roles via the contact page on the website.
