Art from Justine de Spa will be on display, along with pieces from Heather Jonson and Ngaire von Grondelle. This exhibition is free and runs until the end of the month. Down by the Liffey Gallery, 1 James St. Free entry Kidsfest Bees, Bugs and Butterflies Friday 15 July 10am-12.30pm Lincoln Envirotown and the Lincoln High School Enviro Council are hosting this event for children to learn more about the insects around them. Make and colour some exciting insects, visit the make believe beehive, look at bugs through Email by 5pm each Wednesday microscopes and bees in a glass beehive. You don’t need to book ahead for this event. Caregivers are required. Lincoln Event Centre, 15 Meijer Dr. Free entry but a gold coin donation is appreciated Soul Jam Saturday and Sunday 10am- 5pm This is a holistic health and spiritual expo where you will be able to find many different things for yourself or someone else. There will also be free talks, workshops and demonstrations from 11am until 4pm, as well as free face painting for children. West Melton Community Centre. Entry $5, under-16 free Futuro del Violino Saturday 7.30pm and Sunday 2pm Nut Point Centre is presenting two shows over the weekend. On Saturday night, Oleg Kotorovych and Iryna Ionenko will perform and on Sunday afternoon, students from around Canterbury will perform classical music. Ticket prices include light refreshments. This event is held once a month for book lovers to discover new reads. There will be all kinds of genres on offer. Ellesmere Road Runners: Wednesday registration from 5.45pm, starts at 6pm. 3km or 6km. Starts from Leeston Physiotherapy. Take a trip to West Melton and look at the stars. The Canterbury Astronomical Society will open their observatory in the evenings for kids to learn more about the universe and stars around them. The observatory will be open every night from 7.30pm until 9pm for the duration of Kidsfest as long as the weather is good. Check the society website http://www.cas. to see if the observatory is open. Updates will be posted at 6.30pm. This event is aimed at children aged 5-13 and caregivers are required. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults, cash sales only. The observatory is located at 218 Bells Road, West Melton.
