2 SELWYN TIMES [Edition datE] Tuesday September 20 2016 31 ROLLESTON’S 150 YEAR CELEBRATIONS A Community Event Rolleston’s 150 year weekend will celebrate the town and its people, from the significant to the day-to-day happenings that reflect its history. To capture this, people are invited to share their photos and stories by taking them to the Rolleston Library on Sunday, 25 September, 1pm-5pm where each will be scanned and immediately handed back to the owner. “We want photos of the experiences and images of Rolleston over the years, whether the effects of the earthquakes, snow falling, farming, transport, construction or people,” says Jeff Bland, Chairman of the organising committee. The photos will be used in the 150th celebratory weekend exhibitions and will also provide material for a book on the history of Rolleston, to be written by local Council historian, Wayne Stack. Volunteers are also needed leading up to and over the celebration weekend, offering opportunity for enterprising clubs to also engage in some fundraising.
