selection of 12 young men<br />

and women from the 1st<br />

District of Illinois to receive<br />

nominations to America’s<br />

top service academies.<br />

For the U.S. Naval Academy:<br />

For the U.S. Air Force:<br />

GOP election judges needed<br />

Will County Clerk Nancy<br />

Schultz Voots is seeking Republican<br />

election judges to<br />

work upcoming elections.<br />

The number of Republican<br />

and Democratic election<br />

judges at each polling<br />

place is determined by the<br />

average party turnout in the<br />

three most recent Illinois<br />

governor’s races. It’s imperative<br />

to have a balance<br />

of Republicans and Democrats<br />

at the polling place to<br />

assure the integrity of the<br />

election.<br />

Before being assigned to<br />

an election, election judges<br />

are required to attend a 2.5<br />

hour training class. Upon<br />

completion of training,<br />

election judges are paid<br />

$150 for the day they are<br />

assigned to work a polling<br />

place, including mileage<br />

reimbursement. Election<br />

judges can earn extra compensation<br />

if they are assigned<br />

to pick up and drop<br />

off election supplies.<br />

All interested individuals<br />

class.<br />

Applicants must be U.S.<br />

citizens, live in Will County<br />

and be entitled to vote<br />

at the next election, or be<br />

or private school, community<br />

college, or private<br />

secondary school.<br />

equine-assisted, growth<br />

and learning opportunity<br />

designed to improve the<br />

self-confidence skills in<br />

children ages 6-10. The<br />

workshop includes structured<br />

exercises in which<br />

horses and participants will<br />

form a unique hands-on experience.<br />

Please be advised<br />

horse knowledge and/or<br />

experience is not necessary;<br />

this is not a riding<br />

workshop.<br />

LW East presents ‘Orchesis: Musical Edition’<br />

On Friday, Jan. 26, and<br />

Saturday, Jan. 27, Lincoln-<br />

Way East dancers are scheduled<br />

to perform the East<br />

Orchesis Dance Concert<br />

entitled “Orchesis: Musical<br />

Edition.” The shows is<br />

scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.<br />

in the Lincoln-Way East<br />

Fine Arts Center. Tickets<br />

will be sold at the box office<br />

a half hour prior to each<br />

show. Admission is $7 for<br />

adults and $5 for students.<br />

Children aged 3 and younger<br />

will gain free admittance.<br />

Orchesis is a dance organization<br />

that gives students<br />

with a strong desire and<br />

talent to dance the opportunity<br />

of expressive movement<br />

through the art of dance performance.<br />

The goal is to<br />

educate and strengthen the<br />

appreciation of dance as an<br />

art form. All dances are choreographed<br />

by high school<br />

students and allow them an<br />

opportunity to participate in<br />

leadership roles. Fifty dancers<br />

from grades nine through<br />

12 have been preparing since<br />

August for the performance.<br />

“We have a very talented<br />

group of girls this year,”<br />

said Orchesis Director Julie<br />

Widinski. “Their dedication<br />

and hard work has produced<br />

a very entertaining show.”<br />

This year’s dance performance<br />

is a compilation of<br />

various choreography designed<br />

as a tribute to musical<br />

favorites. Dancers will perform<br />

all styles of dance from<br />

hip hop to ballet. Music selections<br />

include hits from the<br />

‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and today.
