Northfield resident reports attempted home burglary
George Michael and Bozeman
The Chessen family of Winnetka
George Michael, an 8-year-old yellow lab, and
Bozeman “Bo,” a 3 -year-old black lab, are
inseparable. The two have been known to
wander out of the family’s gated yard only to find
themselves in the back of a police car. Bo is never
without a ball, and George, his Kong. These two
silly labs love to play soccer in the yard with their
brother, Walker.

Around 3:13 p.m. on
Jan. 8, a resident from
Winfield Drive reported
that approximately one
hour prior to calling the
police, a dark complected
male, with a possible European
accent, attempted
to gain access to the home
by alleging he needed to
speak about cutting down
a tree on the property. His
attempt to enter the home
was thwarted when the
resident closed and locked
the door. The offender
was last seen running to
a vehicle in the driveway.

A Wilmette woman
accused of stabbing
her mother is being
charged with attempted
murder, among other
charges, according to
the Wilmette Police
Department.

Jan. 14
• At 1:12 p.m., a resident
from the 300 block of
Dickens Street reported
someone had cut a strand
of holiday lights on his
property.
Jan. 11
• At 7:39 a.m., police responded
to a suspicious
vehicle complaint in the
500 block of Somerset
Lane, where a juvenile
was arrested for local ordinance
possession of alcohol
by a minor.
• Katie Raquel Gonzales,
25, of Skokie, was arrested
at 5:31 p.m. at the
intersection of Walnut Avenue
and Willow Road for
driving on a revoked driver’s
license and expired
registration.
WINNETKA
Jan. 10
• Between 8:30-11:30
a.m., an employee at New
Trier High School, 385
Winnetka Ave., discovered
materials described
her 60-year-old mother
multiple times while she
was in bed Thursday
morning, Jan. 18, in the
1900 block of Highland
Avenue.
According to a press release,
officers responded
to the residence, where
both women live, around
7:04 a.m. following a 911
call.
By the time police arrived,
the daughter had
fled the home. Responding
officers located the
offender in the 2000 block
of Washington Avenue,
where she was taken into
custody. The mother was
taken to the hospital with
non-life-threatening injuries.
After further investigation
and review by the
Cook County State Attorney’s
Office, Larson was
charged with attempted
murder, aggravated battery
against a person over
as disturbing and inappropriate
left in a classroom.
Police investigation continues.

Northfield approves new
vehicle, electric purchases
The board approved the
purchase of a 2018 Ford
dump truck from Currie
Motors of Frankfort for
$71,092 and the disposal
of the 2008 Ford dump
truck it is replacing.
According to Mike
Nystrand, the Village’s
public works director and
fire rescue chief, the new
truck will have a 9-foot
bed (making it larger than
the current truck), an additional
hydraulic salt
spreader and better fuel
and exhaust systems. He
also said it will get better
mileage and will be safer
for operations.
Plans call for the old
truck to be sold at auction.
“We expect to get from
$10,000 to $12,000,”
Nystrand said.
Approval was given
for the purchase and installation
of a Caterpillar
diesel-fueled standby
generator from Patten
CAT Power Systems of
Elmhurst for $110,310.24
Patten CAT Power
Systems will remove
and dispose of the existing
standby generator
which has outlived its
usefulness.
“The one that is out
there is 20-years-old,”
Nystrand said. “Last year,
we spent $2,200 on maintenance.”
Also approved was
the purchase of an audio
visual system from Frequency
Audio Visual for
$47,201.95.
“This was the only bidder
that submitted a bid
within our budget and
they were highly recommended,”
said Melissa
DeFeo, Northfield’s assistant
to the village manager.
The system will provide
upgrades for the board
room, the executive session
room and rooms upstairs.
