School News LAMAR CONSOLIDATED ISD WWW.LCISD.ORG IMPORTANT DATES February 16 th - Early Release Day (K-5) - 11:30 AM February 19 th - Staff Development & Student Holiday February 23 rd - Early Release Day (6-12) - 12:15 PM LCISD PRINCIPAL HENVA MEDLOW MEDLOW TO LEAD CARTER ELEMENTARY Current Williams Elementary Principal Henva Medlow will be the first principal at Donald Carter Elementary when it opens in August. Carter Elementary is under construction in the Stone Creek Estates subdivision. Medlow is a graduate of the University of Houston and earned her masters at University of Houston-Victoria. She became principal at Williams Elementary in 2013. Prior to taking the helm at Williams, she served the school as assistant principal. She also served as an assistant principal, science specialist and teacher in Houston ISD. LAMAR CISD DEDICATES LINDSEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Lamar CISD dedicated it’s 24 th elementary school in honor of a woman who dedicated her life to public service. Kathleen Joerger Lindsey Elementary is Lamar CISD’s first school with a Katy address and is located in the Firethorne West subdivision. Lindsey was valedictorian of the Class of 1932 at Rosenberg High School. She went on to graduate from the University of Texas and the UT Law School, where she was one of only three women in a class of 300 students. She is believed to be the first woman attorney in Fort Bend County. Her efforts helped found the Fort Bend Public Library System and she was instrumental in bringing the Richmond State School to Fort Bend County. Lindsey was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Joerger -Lindsey Parish Hall is in recognition of her contributions to the congregation. Friends and family of Mrs. Lindsey were in attendance for the ceremony. 28 February 2018 | Community Newsletter

FO1 VOLLEYBALL Coming off the heels of their victory at the AAU National Championships in Orlando last season, FO1 Volleyball’s 15 Black Team came away with another victory at the FAST Warm Up Tournament here in Houston. This was the first tournament of the year and our local girls came away with seven straight victories to finish in first place. Community Newsletter | February 2018 29
