Every January 1st a new year begins. It’s the time of year we make resolutions to change one thing or another in our lives. Some may want to lose weight, some may want to spend more time with family or spend more time doing things that bring joy. Change is also something we can count on in business both in products and services offered. We can now grocery shop online and drive to the store to pick up. There’s a gizmo the size of a hockey puck called the Echo Dot from Amazon that through voice controls can read audiobooks, read the news make calls for us, etc. Change is everywhere! Approximately two years ago the board was asked to explore updating the WBN logo. Some members felt very strongly that our logo did not need updating. These members believed that no new logo could capture the meaning of the intertwined letters. The letters are woven together to illustrate the support system that is the foundation of Women’s Business Network. As with all issues, there was an opposing view. Other members felt very strongly that the WBN logo was dated and was therefore ineffective in capturing new members, especially the millennial generation. At this time of year, when change is especially prevalent, I present the membership with our new WBN logo. The new logo is the result of an RFP from one of our very own members who worked closely with the Marketing Committee, a committee made up of your peers. After several rounds of revisions this new logo is designed to move us forward. With a font that is much more compatible with today’s technology and an image of a strong businesswoman, we will brand the Women’s Business Network as an organization that any businesswoman looking to network and expand their area of influence would want to be a part of. This branding effort will carry through not only the website, newsletter and social media portals, but also through any and all marketing material. Just remember this … whichever side of the coin you fall on, a logo does not grow your business, YOU do! With that being said … LET’S GROW! Marcie O’Brien President 2017-2018 Network News/Page 2
