The school raised nearly $400 as part of the nationwide Pink Shirt Day recently, which will go towards a “friendship seat” in the school grounds. The point of the friendship seat was that when children had no-one to play with at lunchtime, they can sit on the seat and someone will come over and invite them to join in the games. The seat will promote friendship and kindness in the pupils and help build a sense of community. Promotions and marketing officer Rita Spadoni said the seat aims to prevent bullying before it becomes a problem. “It is hoped children will approach the one in the seat, make sure he or she is all right and ask them to play,” she said.
