Christchurch is spoilt for choice, with amazing street art splashed across the central city. Artists have transformed dilapidated buildings and alleyways, turning them into places of gritty beauty. What started after the 2011 earthquakes as basic tags, quickly grew more complex, and soon enough major murals were starting to take up full building walls. Well-respected graffiti artists from outside Christchurch have added their contributions and the city is now abundant with colourful and vibrant works of art which can be found on almost every corner. Sometimes the line between graffiti art and vandalism can be a hazy one. But the is no question that the art has breathed a new and colourful breath of live in to the damaged city. Too make sure you haven’t missed some of the hidden gems, It’s well worth having a look on for a map of all of the murals around the city. the dreaded turKey neck Get rid of the ‘gobble gobble’ with the correct treatments! If you thought your hands show your age, take a look at your neck. That old ‘gobble gobble’ excess of skin is one of the hardest to fix, and it’s an area we exercise the least and forget about with our daily skincare routine. Turkey neck is is the result of skin loosing its elasticity and fat with advancing age or through sudden weight gain or lose. While there are some specially designed creams and serums to target the neck area, lotions and potions can only do so much. But fear not, there is a step before you go to the extreme lengths of cosmetic surgery. Advanced skin treatments can help tighten the skin in that area. Rosa Guthrie from The Cosmetic Clinic says they have a fractional RF machine which is a combination of needling and radio frequency. “This is a treatment that involves puncturing the epidermis (surface layer of the skin) with hundreds of tiny needles to cause ‘controlled trauma’ and induce the collagen response. A numbing cream is applied first, to reduce the discomfort. The Radio Frequency (RF) heats the tissue and stimulates collagen production. This leads to the reduction of fine lines, large pores and loose skin. Combining the two techniques creates a much deeper and more beneficial Collagen response than just dermal needling alone. Less treatments are required and results are generally much better. Great for a neck that is starting to sag!” It’s also important not to leave out the neck from your facial beauty regime, after all it is an extension of your face. “The same care and attention needs to be spread down the neck, and even further down to the décolletage. Serums, sunscreen and retinol all need to be spread across the AWAITING COPY Ad Number: FG9681 Artwork: FG9681 Size: 18x8 Description: CASH SALES Account: Forward 50 On the 30th of April at Colour: 4:00pm F the world famous New Filename: Zealand FG9681 Army Band is going to perform at “The Piano”, 156 Armagh Street, Christchurch. This is the first time that the band has performed a concert in Christchurch since the successful 50th celebration concert in 2014. New Zealand Army Band Bandmaster Warrant Officer Class Two Phillip Johnston is thrilled to be able to showcase the band’s talents locally in Christchurch’s latest performing arts venue “The Piano”. Warrant Officer Johnston said “the venue is ideally suited for a traditional brass band concert and it will be a great afternoon of music making”. The NZArmy Band’s program will be a trip down memory lane as the programme features classic brass band repertoire such as Eric Ball’s Resurgam and Kingdom Triumphant. The band has six current New Zealand solo champions and will feature three of them whole area. Often you see older woman with beautiful youthful skin on their face, but look further down to their neck, décolletage and hands, this shows the real age. This is due to those areas being forgotten and neglected. Many of our clients ‘add on’ neck, décolletage and hands to our skin microdermabrasion and laser treatments.” Short of wearing a roll-neck all year round, there is also another non-surgical procedure that you should be booking in for. This treatment the ‘Nefertiti lift’. “The name refers to the Egyptian princess Nefertiti who was renowned for her long elegant neck. The actual procedure itself, consists of lots of little anti wrinkle injections to the area, which relaxes the platysmal muscles which are major depress ors of the lower face. The results are a more defined jawline and more youthful appearance. Like the hands and under eye area, the neck tends to give away our age. We use a series of anti wrinkle injections into the platysmal bands (neck lines) and the lines on the lower part of the face. Lots of little injection sites which are superficial so relatively painless. When the anti wrinkle kicks in, the sites that were injected, relax. Unlike traditional treatments to the frown, forehead or crows, which focus on reducing wrinkles, this treatments focuses on changing facial contouring with the use of an anti wrinkle (neurmodulator).” The neck is not the easiest of areas to treat, but by using the right products and treatments, you’ll be better equipped to turn your neck from turkey back to spring chick. A Trip Down Memory Lane with the New Zealand Army Band during the concert. Private Kyle Lawson will perform Oasis, Lance Corporal Joe Thomas will perform Shenandoah and Sergeant Kevin Hickman will perform Ave Maria. As is appropriate with the concert being so close to ANZAC day, the band will also feature Fernleaf Headstones and Passchendaele. Both of these pieces were written for the band by past member, world renowned composer Dwayne Bloomfield. Fernleaf Headstones was written for the repatriation of the Unknown Warrior and Passchendaele depicts the tragic events of the Third Battle of Ypres, which to this day is still the most deadly day in New Zealand’s wartime history. The programme is rounded off with a couple of classic hymns and of course it would not be an NZ Army Band concert without a march or two. Director of Music of the New Zealand Army Band Major Graham Hickman is excited to have the band performing such a traditional programme in their home town. “The band is in a really strong position at the moment with so many fine players, including seven current members of the 2017 National Youth Band and 14 current or past National Band members within the ranks”.
