The Star Latest Christchurch news at www. .kiwi Thursday April 27 2017 41 Sport Enari thinking attack at under-20 rugby world champs • By Campbell Burnes THE NEW Zealand under-20s are mindful of having a back up plan to their attacking strategy ahead of next month’s world champs in Georgia. Last year in England, New Zealand clearly had the most talented backs – such as Shaun Stevenson and Jordie Barrett – and ability to play high octane rugby, but when the weather turned and the refereeing and Mary Westwood M 021 557 731 P 03 347 4711 mary.westwood@harcourts.co.nz www.harcourts.co.nz Four Seasons Realty Ltd Licensed Agent REAA 2008 Why not put me to the test As I do stand out from the rest If you’re ready to sell then so am I So go ahead give me a try!!! opposition tactics were not conducive to running rugby, they did not handle the pressure, their loss to Ireland leading to a lowly fifth place finish. “We’ve looked at our attack structures and where we want to attack. We’re hopeful about the weather in Georgia and that will play in our favour,” said New Zealand coach Craig Philpott. New Zealand will get to try out some of those attacking structures this Friday against bRUmbIES V bLUES Four Seasons Realty 2017 SUPER 18 TiPPing ComPETi T ion RoUnD 10 April 28 th - April 30 th BRoUghT To yoU By ThE ChRiSTChURCh STaR Fiji on the Gold Coast when the Oceania under-20 championship begins. There is still much to play for among the 31 players, as the final cull for Georgia will see 28 travelling to the world champs. Canterbury halfback Ere Enari is the vice-captain and has the green light to control some of the options. “We haven’t quite got that far yet (on tweaking the attack) but the learnings from last year are that we shouldn’t be too onedimensional and be able to adapt on the day,” said the 19-year-old. He is one of four former St Kentigern College first XV players so Enari knows a bit about high performance teams. But things have not all been plain sailing for Enari since he left school, due to a 2015 broken leg. But he did play for the 2015 New Zealand Universities side – he is in his third year of a BCom at Lincoln – before appearing in nine games for the 2016 Mitre 10 Cup premiership champions Canterbury. Now he is on a Crusaders training contract. But before Georgia, he and the team need to front in Australia. In 2016, he came off the bench in one Oceania game. “It’ll be a bigger challenge this time as we only get one crack at Australia (May 6). We want to perform in each test because it’ll be quite a similar schedule to the World Cup.” –NZ Herald 3 jamie Harris 6 57 MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING CONTRACTORS Specialists in: P (03) 3894 995 | F (03) 3811 187 | PO Box 15-056, Christchurch www.davidbrowne.co.nz MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING CONTRACTORS Rebuilding Christchurch hIghLaNdERS V STORmERS # NAmE wINS CORRECT ToTal ChIEfS V SUNwOLvES 1 murray Davie 6 60 REdS V waRaTahS 2 Alex Newfield 6 57 fORCE V LIONS ChEETahS V CRUSadERS 4 Richard Vernimmen 6 56 Rebuilding Christchurch kINgS V REbELS 5 Paul (fish) Herring 6 53 jagUaRES V ShaRkS 6 Brent jefferies 6 52 7 Dave Browne 4 50 bYES: bULLS, hURRICaNES 8 mary Westwood 5 48 O U R T I P S T E R S S E L E C T I O N S Specialists in: • Heating and Ventilation • Plumbing and Drainage • Maintenance and IQP • Medical Gases • Boilers and Chillers • Design and Engineering of Mechanical Services Pleased to be associated with Uretek and the Christchurch City Council BREnT JEffERiES A1 Auto StoRmERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS jAguARES BLuES mURRay DaviE Silver Dollar Bar HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS jAguARES BRumBiES lEaDERBoaRD DaviD BRownE David Browne Contracting HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS jAguARES BLuES alEx nEwfiElD Newfield Roofing HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS foRCE CRuSADERS REBELS jAguARES BLuES • Heating and Ventilation • Plumbing and Drainage • Maintenance and IQP • Medical Gases • Boilers and Chillers • Design and Engineering of Mechanical Services Proud to be a major sponsor of New Brighton RFC P (03) 3894 995 | F (03) 3811 187 PO Box 15-056, Christchurch www.davidbrowne.co.nz Come in & watch all the Super Rugby action on our large screens RiChaRD vERnimmEn Braxton Car Lights JamiE haRRiS Venluree PaUl (fiSh) hERRing Active Electrical Suppliers maRy wESTwooD Harcourts Rolleston • Indoor outdoor & mezzanine dining areas • Large sheltered & sunny courtyard • Extensive lunch & evening menu selection to suit everybody’s tastes • Large range of wine, tap & bottled beers • 2x courtesy vans HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS SHARkS BLuES HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS REBELS SHARkS BLuES HigHLANDERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS SHARkS BLuES StoRmERS CHiEfS REDS LioNS CRuSADERS kiNgS SHARkS BLuES 871 Jones Rd, Rolleston | Ph 347 0386 www.silverdollarbar.co.nz “Canterbury’s Commercial Roofing Specialists” $32 WOF ALL CAR SERVICING The Automotive Lamp Specialists T: (03) 335 0077 E: info@newfieldroofing.co.nz Convenient central city repairs and parking Cnr Fitzgerald Ave & Hereford St. Phone: 365-5220 www.a1auto4service.co.nz 30% OFF all Roller Blinds 100’s of colours to choose from Curtains Blinds Shutters Mobile showroom service CALL JAMIE ON 03 365 4666 or 027 779 6574 New and Used Lamps for Cars, Trucks, Vans, 4WD and Motorhomes PH 0800 225 483 325 Brougham Street CHRISTCHURCH
