• You want to see the Pearl Harbor Memorial. No trip to O’ahu is complete in my opinion without a trip to The USS Arizona and the battleship Missouri. These national landmarks are the most visited tourist attraction in Hawaii. It is one of those memorials that you just must see while visiting here. If you are planning a visit these world famous monuments, then you must plan your tour ahead of time. They sell out in advance, so please be aware of that. • You plan on spending the day relaxing on and exploring the world-famous Waikiki Beach. Located on the southern shore of the island, Waikiki is a beachfront area outside of Honolulu. Filled with wonderful restaurants, great shopping and a very active nightlife, a stop here is a must for any Oahu vacation. Especially for you people watchers. • You want to hike to the top of Diamond Head. This is a fairly casual hike of about .75 miles and this trip should take you about 2 hours’ roundtrip. Once at the top of the trail, you will be able to see the entire leeward coast of O’ahu and the view is outstanding and well worth the hike. Take the time out of your busy schedule and take this hike, you will be happy you did. • You want to explore the islands north coast. This side of the island is not as full of tourists, but it is still well known for another reason. It is considered the surfing mecca of the world and it holds many competitions throughout the year. There are many surf schools here that can teach you the ins and outs of surfing, something everyone should have a chance to experience. • You want to experience the Polynesian Cultural Center and Luau. Spending the afternoon wandering through the 7 different villages and exploring all their cultures teaches you about the Polynesian way of life. Canoe paddling, spear throwing and Samoan cooking are just a few of the things you will learn about. Then as evening falls, settle in and enjoy an authentic luau and Polynesian show. A great way to end your day. As always, if you have any questions about O’ahu or any other destination, please contact me, Sue Bradford, your local travel agent.
