Marian and Holder Frey along with Kathy and<br />
Red Dawson first began business producing preprepared<br />
meals, in 2002. Soon after Marian’s<br />
son, Thomas followed by other children, Oliver,<br />
Caroline and Sarah, became involved.<br />
After numerous requests for special function<br />
catering, their focus shifted to professional<br />
catering. Word of mouth spread and they were<br />
soon receiving venue recommendations.<br />
When the earthquake struck on 4 th September<br />
2010, Country Feasts was fortunate to be one of<br />
the few catering businesses not affected. Trading<br />
continued uninterrupted with a client requesting<br />
they still cater for her wedding that day.<br />
In the last five years, Country Feasts Catering has<br />
grown tremendously. They cater for numerous<br />
events including weddings, country race<br />
meetings, sporting functions, A & P shows, school<br />
events, private functions, funerals, Christmas<br />
parties, business meetings and conferences.<br />
Individuals to large organisations are clients<br />
of Country Feasts Catering. They are the main<br />
caterers for Country Cricket, Canterbury Tennis<br />
and the Davis Cup, Mainland Football, the New<br />
Zealand Sheepbreeders (Christchurch A&P<br />
Show), Ellesmere A&P Show, Homebush when<br />
cruise ship passengers visit, and a biannual<br />
3-day conference at Mt Cheeseman Skifield.<br />
You will also see them at the Hororata Highland<br />
Games, this year.<br />
Country Feasts Catering has the expertise and<br />
resources to efficiently provide small and large<br />
event catering; travelling throughout the whole of<br />
Canterbury and sometimes further afield. It is no<br />
wonder they have an impressive client line-up.<br />
Country Feasts offers finger food, buffet, spit<br />
roast, plated, plattered, breakfasts and barbecue<br />
options; accommodating specific dietary needs.<br />
You might choose to have their serviced option<br />
which includes crockery and cutlery with their<br />
wonderful staff preparing and serving the food,<br />
then cleaning-up afterwards. They have a liquor<br />
licence and their own bar managers and bar staff.<br />
There is also the option of do-it-yourself where<br />
Country Feasts delivers the food in disposable<br />
containers for you and your friends to take over.<br />
“We like to sit down with our clients and listen to<br />
their thoughts, making suggestions so they have<br />
a good mix of food to suit an occasion,” explains<br />
Marian who advises that sample menus can be<br />
found on their website with options listed so clients<br />
can tailor a menu to suit their requirements.<br />
Nearly all staff employed by Country Feasts<br />
live locally, many recruited from the Rolleston,<br />
Prebbleton and Lincoln areas.<br />
“We employ young and more mature alike,”<br />
advises Marian who says the work is ideal for<br />
people who want a little part-time employment<br />
with them always looking for casual staff,<br />
especially over the summer months.<br />
