My aim was to offer an efficient and convenient, customer focussed service with a fast turnaround time,” explains John. John sought IT advice, on how a secure, encrypted, cloud-based interactive legal service could be an on-line reality then six months of planning ensued before the business was launched. “As soon as I decided what to do, it was just a matter of timing and getting the systems in place,” adds John. The level of flexibility the business offers has proven popular with clients leading to Sharon Scott recently joining John to look after the conveyancing side of the business. Sharon is experienced in in all aspects of conveyancing work, a great asset for clients purchasing property in what is now a complex field, with the effects of the earthquakes, insurer requirements and new finance laws all to be taken into consideration. Sharon knows the process and can guide clients through these potential hurdles. “I like to get to know my clients so I can offer them the best advice and service, completing the transaction either remotely or visiting clients at a time that suits them,” says Sharon. Together, John and Sharon share over 45 years’ experience in the legal field. They have expertise in all aspects of conveyancing including buying and selling sections, residential homes, commercial properties and farms. John also specialises in setting up and overseeing trusts, employment law, health and safety law and other areas of business law. Online Lawyers do not have centralised offices, instead working locally within their community, utilising the Internet and videoconferencing to explain and share information as well as witness and record legal document signing. This reduces business expense and increases their availability to clients. Canterbury based, John and Sharon will also call on clients, at their premises or homes, or meet them in a café or private purpose built hot desk facility that might be booked for a certain length of time. A key feature of Online Lawyers is they are up-front, providing a pre-agreed scoping of instructions and competitive set price for each job with fixed rates for conveyancing, which are listed on their website: www.onlinelawyers. nz along with other information about their services. Clients are able to budget for the legal component of their activities and confirm they wish to proceed before the contract is taken on. SELWYN TIMES Latest Christchurch news at www. .kiwi Tuesday May 30 2017 11 News SOARING population growth in Rolleston is fuelling the launch of a new residential subdivision, Falcon’s Landing. The 62ha development is situated off Lincoln Rolleston Rd, in a low-density area on Branthwaite Drive. It comprises 600 sections ranging in size from 450 sq m-1000 sq m, with prices starting at $160,000. Construction is due to start in September and the first titles are expected to be through towards the end of 2018. This first release will consist of 120 sections. The project is the work of locally owned Gillman Wheelans, an established developer that was also responsible for Levi Park, in Rolleston. Gillman Wheelans director Hamish Wheelans said such was the demand for Levi Park that the company had since been seeking a quality block of land on which to build a new subdivision. “We really liked this piece of land because of its location and we’re keen to try and save some of the existing plantings, including part of a hazelnut orchard and some established oak trees.” Falcon’s Landing will include Gillman Wheelans’ NATURE: These oak trees will form part of one of the reserves at Falcon’s Landing. Development for Rolleston hallmark tennis court, along with a wide range of recreational spaces. “One of the key facets of subdivisions is ensuring that there are great green spaces for the community both for visual appeal and to use. You have to really understand what’s important to people and how they want to live. Good amenities are crucial,” Mr Wheelans said. Gillman Wheelans has successfully completed 19 low and medium density subdivisions over the past 15 years, including Preston Downs in West Melton, and The Woods in Prebbleton.
