Wilfield is the last subdivision in West Melton with allotments that are currently titled and available. Located on Weedons Ross Road and south of West Coast Road, Wilfield comprises 90 hectares of low-density sections that range in size from 1200sq m right through to four hectares. The average size is tending towards 3000sq m and comes with a price tag of $279,500. A preschool is set to open at Wilfield and the new West Melton Community and Recreation Centre are earmarked for 2018. The subdivision is being developed by the Gillman Wheelans team, which has been building residential subdivisions in the greater Christchurch area for the past 15 years. “We’re attracting a real cross-section of people at Wilfield, which makes for a great community,” director of Gillman Wheelans, Hamish Wheelans says. “Access to main arterial routes will be so convenient when the work is completed next year. This will see Weedons Ross Road link through to the State Highway 1 interchange, close to Rolleston.” Only 230 metres from the West Melton township, Wilfield comprises 180 sections and features reserve areas, a tennis court, basketball hoop, and walking trails. The jewel in the crown is a newly opened playground complete with its own castle, climbing equipment, swings, a slide and flying fox. To get there from Weedons Ross Road, turn into the subdivision onto Kingsdowne Drive, then veer right and take your second left down Silver Peaks Drive. Follow your nose to find the castle. “We’ve worked really hard to ensure that connectivity between public spaces, and walkways through to the shops and the nearby church, including negotiating and building walkways across private properties and pedestrian crossings across West Coast Road,” Hamish says. The Wilfield sales office is open every Wednesday and Sunday, 1pm-3pm. If you are coming from Christchurch on West Coast Rd, there’s a big sign on your left as you approach West Melton. Turn left at Weedons Ross Road and you will see the signage and flags. http://www. Your home is your castle. Now the kids can have theirs too.
