The What do YOUth think campaign is a Selwyn Youth Council strategy to give young people a say on the future of Selwyn by visiting high schools. The next school visit will be held at Ellesmere College where they will be asking for students’ opinions on the current bus route for the Selwyn Link Project. The Selwyn Link project mission is to connect the youth and public with the rest of their district with two bus routes. The routes will be Malvern to Rolleston and Springs/Ellesmere to Rolleston. The focus of the youth council has progressed from an eventsbased model to include more of a governance and advisory role providing a youth voice in the district council. All the officebearing positions are now held by youth councillors. The youth council also has regular on-the-road meetings. The first was held in Leeston in May. The meetings include a public forum where young people can share their ideas. The next onthe-road meeting scheduled is in August, in Lincoln. BRIGHT-EYED: Levi had his first day at West Melton School last week. MORE FRESH FACES: It was new beginnings for Micah and Bonnie who joined West Melton School’s kowhai community. • Email new entrant photos to georgia.oconnor@starmedia. kiwi Dinner Served from 5pm 7 Days Lunch Served 11am - 3pm Wed - Sun All meals under $20 Brunch Served From 10am Sat & Sun Sunday Session: July 2nd Rockabella from 2.30pm Drink specials & food Sunday Roast Served all day From $18.90 Yes we serve great Barista Coffee 12 tap beers to choose from Quiz Night 7pm Wednesdays Private Room available for group bookings (tailored menus to suit) Follow our Facebook page to keep in the loop with your local The Bridge Restaurant & Bar, 587 Springs Road Prebbleton, Christchurch 03 344 2180 | |
