Take notice that Selwyn District Council proposes to take under the Public Works Act 1981 the land described in the Schedule to this notice ("land"). 2. The land is required for the provision of Community Buildings. 3. A plan of the land intended to be taken is available on request. REASONS FOR TAKING LAND 4. The reason why Selwyn District Council considers it reasonably necessary to take the land is: (a) to create a local purpose reserve to allow future provision of community buildings for general community wellbeing and enjoyment; and (b) to perfect ownership of the land to thereafter allow proper future administration of the land. The Minister is seeking to designate an area of 3.32ha to enable the construction and subsequent use of the land for educational purposes where the relevant educational authority constructs, undertakes, establishes, manages operates or maintains land for such work or use. This will include the use of the site for an early childhood education facility and a primary school. Therefore, the purpose of the designation to be noted in the Selwyn District Plan is ‘Educational Purposes – School (years 0 to 8) and Early Childhood Education (preschool)’. The site to which the requirement applies is located on 238 Southfield Drive, Lincoln South. The legal description of the land affected by the designation is LOT 96 DP 354488.
