Possum control – poison warning<br />
High Country Contracting wishes to advise that<br />
a ground-based possum control operation will<br />
be taking place to keep possum numbers under<br />
control to prevent the spread of bovine TB. This<br />
operation will be conducted as a part of the<br />
TBfree New Zealand programme.<br />
Areas covered: The area known as Rolleston<br />
Range extends from the head of Lake<br />
Coleridge and Mount Oakden northwest into<br />
the headwaters of the Mathias and Wilberforce<br />
Rivers and onto the main divide. It includes<br />
the area between the Mathias and Wilberforce<br />
Rivers and extends north onto the Birdwood<br />
Range.<br />
Operation date: 1 December <strong>2017</strong> to 30<br />
November 2018<br />
Poisoning methods: Feratox capsules to be<br />
placed in a peanut paste inside biodegradable<br />
blue bait bags and bait stations. Brodifacoum<br />
may be used in bait stations. Cyanide paste and<br />
hand laid 1080 pellets may also be used in the<br />
high country.<br />
The public is warned to take care in these areas<br />
and not to remove carcasses or baits. Baits are<br />
dangerous to people and dogs.<br />

• Do not touch poison baits/bait stations/traps<br />
• Do not touch poisoned possum carcasses<br />
• Keep pets under supervision<br />
• Do not leave children unattended<br />
• Follow the advice on the poison warning signs.<br />

Notice of intention to take land for the provision of<br />
community buildings – Tai Tapu, <strong>Selwyn</strong> district<br />
NOTICE is hereby given that the <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council proposes to take under the Public Works<br />
Act 1981 the land described in the Schedule to this notice (“Land”).<br />
The Land is required for the provision of Community Buildings. The intended taking is considered<br />
reasonably necessary:<br />
(a) to create a local purpose reserve to allow future provision of community buildings for general<br />
community wellbeing and enjoyment; and<br />
(b) to perfect ownership of the land and thereafter allow proper future administration of the land.<br />
The successors to the owners of the Land and those persons with a registered interest in it have<br />
been served with notice of the <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council’s intention to take the Land and notified of<br />
their right to object.<br />
Any person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment<br />

Army Exercise will be conducted in the West<br />
Melton Rifle Range area over the period 1 – 2<br />
November <strong>2017</strong>.<br />
The exercise will involve personnel of 2/1<br />
RNZIR, from Burnham Military Camp. The<br />
exercise will involve up to 40 personnel.<br />
Training will involve low light live firing on<br />
West Melton Rifle Range, commencing at<br />
5pm and concluding no later than 9.30pm on<br />
