COMPLETED: Lincoln High School’s new outdoor mural captures the beauty of Mahoe Reserve
in Lincoln.
Reserve mural at school
A OUTDOOR mural capturing
the beauty of Mahoe Reserve has
been completed at Lincoln High
School.
The new mural located at
school’s tuck shop was painted
by the school’s sustainability
council over the school
holidays.
Over the past school holidays
students spent hours painting
the new mural designed by artist
and Springston resident Mike
Glover.
The students chose to embark
on the project as a way of
raising awareness of the school’s
sustainability council and to
demonstrate what the Lincoln
environment has to offer.
This ranges from native plants
in the Mahoe reserve to the
township’s church and Lincoln
being the first Envirotown in
New Zealand.
The project was supported by
the Lincoln Farmers’ and Craft
Market.
Year 13 student Amy Burney
said it taught students the
importance of working together
with the community to promote
awareness of the environment.
COVERED UP: Reserved car-parking signs have been
removed from outside a line of shops in Lincoln.
Reserved car parks
have been removed
• By Georgia O’Connor-Harding
RESERVED car parking signs
outside shops and a hairdresser
in Robert St Lincoln have been
removed.
The signs painted in as a
response to tow away and
clamping signs put in by the
Black Door Bar and Eatery on
car parks on the other side of
the street in June.
It was a tit-for-tat type of
move as on street car parking in
expanding Lincoln becomes a
premium.
The Black Door removed the
tow away and clamping signs after
the district council ruled the
12 car parks outside its premises
were not for their exclusive use.
The same applies to the car
parks at 5 Robert St, the district
council says.
The car parks in Robert St
have 120min restricted parking.
