The celebration will be followed by refreshments at Tawera Hall. Mr Alley was the founder and inspiration for the NZ China Friendship Society. He organised thousands of industrial co-operatives during the war against Japan and also pioneered technical training schools. The market starts at 9am and offers more than 60 stalls from crafts, produce, food and entertainment. Grab your unwanted toys, sports gear, books and hand-crafted masterpieces and set up your very own stall to make some pocket money in time for Christmas. A caregiver is required for stalls run by children aged eight to 13. Register your stall on the EventBrite website. Stalls cost $5. Register before Friday. No food or drink to be sold.
