The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
Girl Scout Program
The Girl Scout program centers on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience —
the experiences a Juliette will have as she earns badges, completes Leadership
Journeys, earns highest awards, sells cookies, goes on exciting trips, explores
the outdoors, and completes Take Action projects.
There is a binder for girls at each Girl Scout level
called The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting. This binder
includes the Girl Scout history, handbook, and
badges/petals so Juliettes can start their Girl Scout
experience right away with their family and friends!
There are seven themed Leadership Journeys for
Juliettes to choose from at each Girl Scout level.
On each Leadership Journey, everything girls
do—whether it’s performing science experiments,
creating art projects, cooking simple meals, or
learning to protect the planet’s water supply—is
aimed at giving them the benefits of the Girl Scout
“Keys to Leadership”. These “Keys to Leadership”
are Discover (her special skills and talents),
Connect (with others) and Take Action (to make
the world a better place).
ABOUT THE
JULIETTE PROGRAM
The Juliette program is Girl Scouting custom-made for
you! It’s a great way to mix and match your unique interests
with Girl Scout participation – special events, weekend
workshops, leadership projects, or travel opportunities that
improve your skills and meet your interests and needs.
Juliettes are busy, independent, self-confident girls and young
women who want to be a part of something larger – Girl Scouts!
Meeting in troops is one way
to be a part of the Girl Scout
experience, but when there
aren’t available troops in your
area, your troop no longer meets,
or you become too busy with
extracurricular activities or sports,
becoming a Juliette will allow
you to continue your Girl Scout
experience on an individual basis.
The Juliette program is available
to all girls in Kindergarten through
12th grade. It is especially popular
for girls ages 11 – 17 who love the
Girl Scout program but are very
busy with other activities. It’s a
way to stay connected and fulfill
your Girl Scout dreams without
making a long-term commitment
to a troop.
As a Juliette, you may participate in everything that is open
to your grade level. You may attend council sponsored
programs such as events, series opportunities, year-round
camp experiences, and travel opportunities.
You can also take part in council sponsored product sale
programs to help pay for Girl Scout events and activities. As
a Juliette, you will work on these Girl Scout programs with a
parent or another adult mentor.
You will decide what activities to participate in and which
earned recognitions/awards you wish to complete. Juliettes
have the opportunity to earn the Journey awards and badges
as well as the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.
Events and Activities
There are so many ways to be involved in Girl Scouting
and all of them are available to Juliette members!
Quarterly, every Girl Scout family in our council receives a magazine,
which includes information on Girl Scouts of Citrus Council programs
and activities. These announcements represent just a small portion of
all of the opportunities available on the Girl Scouts of Citrus calendar of
events at citrus-gs.org/en/events/event-calendar.
Juliette families also receive bi-weekly emails that highlight upcoming
events in their area and council wide opportunities to participate.
Product Programs
Girl Scouts who participate in the Cookie Sale and
the Fall Product sale develop five skills: goal setting,
decision making, money management, people skills,
and business ethics.
Girl Scout Juliettes who participate in these sales earn Program
Credits, which can be used toward council or community
sponsored events & programs, camp, and purchases from the
council shop and trading posts. In addition to Program Credits,
Juliettes also earn incentives.
Juliettes can fully participate in Fall Product and
Cookie Programs as long as they are in good
financial standing with the council.
Juliette parents/guardians must complete an
online or in person training and complete and
sign the Parent/Guardian Permission Form in
order for their Juliette to participate.
Program credits are kept on record at Citrus
Council for Juliettes to redeem upon request.
Council Shop
What do we have to offer?
The Girls Guide to Girl Scouting and the
Leadership Journeys are available in our council
shops or online at www.citrus-gs.org/en/shop.
The Girl Scout uniforms are available in
our shop. While the uniform is optional, most
girls like to have a vest or sash to attach their
badges/ petals, patches, and awards to. The
vest or sash can be worn over their regular
clothes. This is her chance to let others know
about the awesome things she has done – and
remember what she has accomplished and
the fun she had along the way!
Program Credits earned by participating in
the Cookie Sale or Fall Product Sale may be
used to make purchases in our council shops.
Bronze, Silver &
Gold Awards
Girl Scouts Highest Awards provide Girl Scouts the
opportunity to become more involved in local community
issues and learn skills to become proactive leaders.
These awards incorporate engagement in either troop or individual
projects that benefit Girl Scouts and their communities, expose Girl
Scouts to important societal issues, and help them develop problem
solving and critical thinking skills.
There are three different levels of Girl
Scout awards:
• Bronze Award Take Action Project
• Silver Award Take Action Project
• Gold Award Take Action Project
The projects Girl Scouts undertake for these
awards range in topic and scope. While
some girls might be interested in tackling an
environmental issue, others might seek a
project focused on improving education or
supporting the well-being of animals.
Girl Scouts of Citrus staff are here to help girls
in the process of understanding and completing
their awards projects. In particular, we are here
to assist with the following:
• Address any questions Girl Scout members may
have about the awards process.
• Support girls in developing ideas for their
projects and provide feedback on their proposals.
• Connect girls to local community partners who
may be able to help mentor them or sponsor their
projects.
Bronze Award
The Girl Scout Bronze Award is open to
Girl Scout Juniors who have completed a
Junior-level Journey. Girls are expected to
spend at least 20 hours each working on this
project. Girls must select an issue they want
to tackle within their community and submit
a proposal once they have completed their
Junior-level Journey.
Silver Award
The Silver Award is open to Cadette Girl Scouts who
have completed a Cadette-level Journey. They may
either complete the project as a small group (no more
than 3) or individually.
The girls must investigate an issue within their
community and then put a sustainable solution into
action to address the issue.
Girls must complete a required training and submit
a proposal before they start their project. Cadettes
must focus entirely on benefiting their community and
spend a minimum of 50 hours on their project.
7

Gold Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award Take Action Project is the highest
achievement that can be received in Girl Scouts. This is an
individual project for girls that are in high school, who have either:
• Completed two Senior Journeys or two Ambassador Journeys
• Have earned a Silver Award and completed one Senior Journey
or one Ambassador Journey
Girls must identify an issue, investigate it, develop a plan, seek
approval from Citrus Council, and then take action to find a
solution that will educate and inspire people in the short and long
term. Girl Scouts must spend a minimum of 80 hours on their
project. Gold Award Girl Scouts will be invited to attend the annual
In Her Honor Ceremony.
Gold Award History
The Golden Eagle of Merit marked the beginning of a long tradition
of recognizing girls who make a difference in their communities
with a prestigious award. The names have changed, but the
meaning stays the same:
• 1916-1939 The Golden Eaglet
• 1940-1963 Curved Bar
• 1963-1980 First Class
• 1980-Present Gold Award
