After 12 years of service as a teacher
and registrar, Mrs. Ma. Catherina
I. Reyes was appointed by the
School Administration as the new Officer-
In-Charge for College Affairs of Marian
College of Baliuag last May, 2017.
Reyes was overwhelmed that she
earned the trust of the school administration
and has given the opportunity to manage
the College Department. In an interview,
she was asked about her preparations as
the new OIC, she said that she sought help
from the faculty as she takes the position as
their leader and not their superior. In order
for the College department to work out,
they have to work together. “Hindi ka boss,
leader ka”, she uttered. According to her,
being a registrar and OIC is difficult but she
always makes sure to manage her time to
accomplish the things that are on the top of
the list and execute them successfully.
At the end of her interview, she
expressed her gratitude to everyone under
her administration. She thanked her faculty
members for being cooperative from the
construction of ideas down to the execution
of the activities done by the department
and more so for the bond that they have
created. She also thanked the students for
being participative during school activities.
She wishes them to enjoy and relax as
they go along further with their studies.
“Wala naman akong ibang hangad sa mga
estudyante natin kundi maging successful
sila.”, she said.
Changes happen, the success of
the department rests with a leader who is
efficient and effective. The college students
became participative and cooperative when
it comes on the activities prepared by the
department.
The new system of having an
effective management has been experienced,
the fruit of hardwork has been presented.
This may continue and lead to the success of
the College Department of Marian College
of Baliuag, Inc.

Marian College of Baliuag held its
College Department’s Annual
Acquiantance Party on August
5, 2017 at the MCB covered court. It
has been an anticipated event for all the
college students. The theme of the event
was “Celebrate a Night of Strong Bond
forged with Harmony and Comradeship”,
students were advised to wear their black
and white semi formal attire.
Despite of the gloomy weather,
students were able to join the party which
started at exactly 5:30PM. The entire
covered court of Marian College was
filled with glamorous students wearing
their best suits and dresses. The event
was accompanied by the presence of the
Vice President, Mr. Ruperto G. Viñas and
the Administrator, Mrs. Narcisa Viñas;
College Consultant, Dr. Rico Paulo
Tolentino; College OIC-Registrar, Mrs.
Ma. Catherina I. Reyes; the Program
Heads; and College Faculty members.
The program started with an
entourage starting with the Teacher
Education, BSBA, BSHM, BSIT and
Caregiving students. They all walked with
class and elegance. The Administration
and the faculty members also had their
turn to walk wearing their dazzling attires.

Later, Dr. Rico Paulo Tolentino, College
Consultant, gave an inspirational message
where he thanked and admired the unity
and friendship of the Administration to
its faculty members who are giving so
much care for the students. He wished to
achieve success for the Marian College.
Thereupon was a raffle draw
where Mr. Ruperto G. Viñas gave 20
dollars and other amazing gifts to the
lucky winners. It was followed by a
dance number performed by the 3rd year
BSBA, 4th year Teacher Education, 3rd
year BSHM and the Caregiving students.
During dinner, the students were delighted
because of the food especially the Lechon
donated by our Hon. Mayor Ferdie
Estrella. At the middle of the dinner,
Dr. Tolentino, led the Ceremonial Toast.
While everyone was enjoying their food, a
live band from BSIT students and faculty
members serenaded the audience. After
the dinner, the 4th year BSBA, 3rd year
Teacher Education, 2nd year BSHM, 1st
year BSBA, BSIT and the 4th year BSHM
students gave amusing performances.
The most applauded performance
was exhibited by the male BSIT students
because of their funny antics. Their song
with dance and act number really thrilled
the crowd. Afterwards, Mr. Ruperto
G. Viñas gave the special awards. Ms.
Arjanelyn Reymatias won the Outfit of
the Night Award, Mr. James Onejar for
being The Darling of the Crowd while
Ms. Larizza Mae De Leon was announced
as the Face of the Night. The King and
Queen of the Night were Mr. Angelo
Fernando and Ms. Mariepaz Nicolas
while Ms. Layca Ignacio and Mr. Paulo
Mendoza were awarded as the Mr. and
Ms. Acquaintance. The Faculty of the
night award was given to Mr. Ken Lordian
Derla and the students with the Best
Performance were the BSIT students.
Mrs. Ma. Catherina I. Reyes then closed
the program.
The program ended at around
9:00PM. The event was hosted by Mr.
Don Henry Ortiz and Mr. Marnick
Gutierrez. Whereas, the technical aspects
of the program was supervised by the
College Student Council together with
the faculty members. Later in the evening,
its the Disk Jockey’s turn to play music
which led students to enjoy the dance
floor until 11:00 o’clock in the evening.
For the college students, it was really an
amazing night to remember.

To formally introduce the two party
lists for the College Student Council
Election, Miting de Avance was held
at the the covered court at exactly 8 o’clock
in the morning on July 22, 2017,. The
MILLENIAL (Making Innovation in Leading
students to Learn, Empower and Nurture,
New Ideas, Attitude and Leadership) Party
List and Voice of the Youth Party List were
asked by some of the students about their
platforms and priority.
The Annual Automated (CSC)
Election started at exactly 1PM. The BSIT
students took charge of the automated
election. The winners were proclaimed
immediately because of the cooperation of
the students and the effective implementation
of the voting system.
Thus, the newly elected officers are;
Mr. Paulo Mendoza for Business Manager,
Mr. James Ojenar for Auditor, Ms.Veronica
Bautista for treasurer, Ms. Richelle
Ignacio for Assistant Treasurer, Ms. Trisia
Alejandrino for Secretary, Mr. Victorino Dela
Peña for Vice-President and Mr. Mairon Sage
Gonzales for President. The election proper
happened successfully.

PAGKAKAISA: Pinatunayan ng College at SHS
Department sa Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika
ni Czarina Marie Flores at Ayralyn Tagle
Noong ika-24 at 29 ng Agosto taong
kasalukuyan ay ipinagdiwang ang
Buwan ng Wika na may temang
“Wikang Filipino, Wikang Mapagbago” na
isinagawa sa bulwagan ng paaralan. Tunay
ngang hindi maitatanggi na ang ating wika ay
sadyang naimpluwensyahan na ng iba’t ibang
wikang banyaga. Sa kabila nito, pinagtibay ng
mga mag-aaral ng Marian College of Baliuag na
ang paggamit ng wikang Filipino ay hindi dapat
kaligtaan.
Sa unang pagkakataon magkasamang
ipinagdiwang ng Departamento ng Kolehiyo
at Senior High School ang Buwan ng Wika.
Magkasama nilang pinag-isipan at binuo ang
iba’t ibang paligsahan na malugod namang
nilahukan ng mga mag aaral. Ang mga
patimpalak sa unang araw ng selebrasyon ay
Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Malikhaing Pagguhit,
Malikhaing Pagkukuwento, Tula, Talumpating
Handa at Di-handa. Ang mga nagkamit ng unang
pwesto ay sina Ma. Luisa Estaquio (STEM) –
Pagsulat ng Sanaysay; Mark Anthony Dave
(BSBA IV) – Malikhaing Pagguhit; Felicidad
Magtalas (BSED IV) – Tula; at Peter Paul
Vidar (ABM)–Malikhaing Pagkukuwento at
Talumpating Di Handa.
Samantala, ang Isahan at Dalawahang
Awit ay ginaganap noong ikalawang araw ng
pagdiriwang sa bulwagan ng paaralan. Tunay
na nagbigay aliw sa mga manunuod ang mga
kalahok na nagpamalas ng kanilang galing sa
pagawit. Matapos ang paligsahan, nasungkit ni
Monalisa de Guzman ang unang pwesto para
sa Isahang Awit, Cleo Patawaran at Monalisa
de Guzman sa Dalawahang Awit na kapwa
nabibilang sa pangkat ng HUMMS.
Upang bigyang halaga ang mga
katutubong sayaw, ang mga kalahok ng iba’t
ibang grupo ay naghandog ng masiglang pagindak
na siya namang ikinapanalo ng BSBA IV
ng Kolehiyo at ABM ng Senior High School.
Sinundan naman ito ng paligsahan ng Lakan
at Lakambini na binubuo ng labing-anim na
maririkit at makikisig na mga kalakahok. Bawat
isa’y nagtanghal sa entablado ng iba’t ibang
talento at nagpamalas ng talino. At sa huli,
itinanghal na Lakan at Lakambini 2017 sina G.
Ronnel Seraus (BSHM IV) at Bb. Clarish Claire
Duran (STEM).
Bilang pangwakas, tunay namang
inabangan ng bawat mag aaral ang kapanapanabik
na pagtatanghal ng bawat kalahok
sa Pasalitang Tula. Bumuhos ang emosyon sa
entablado kasabay ng hiyawan ng mga napukaw
na damdamin sa bawat hugot na binibitawan ng
mga kalahok. Isang tagos damdaming pahayag
ang tumatak at tunay namang nakaantig sa puso
ng bawat isa, ito ang Pasalitang Tula ni Shirleyn
Tayao na mag-aaral ng HUMMS na naging
dahilan upang kaniyang maiuwi ang unang
pwesto sa patimpalak.

Marian College Excels
at BulPriSA Cultural
Meet 2017

Bulacan Private Schools Association
conducted an annual Provincial meet for
cultural categories. The said event was held at
Dr. Yanga Colleges on October 18-19, 2017.
The first day started with the Essay
Writing, Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, and Poster
Making Contest. The contestants did their
best to prove that the students of Marian
College does not only excel in sports but in
academics as well.
On the second day, the college
students showed their talents and intelligence
in Oration, Extemporaneous Speech,
Declamation, Tula, Talumpating Handa,
Talumpating Di Handa, Vocal Solo and Vocal
Duet. Each of them delivered their pieces very
well in front of the crowd with confidence.

Real journalists present facts, exact
information, and accurate details. They serve
as reliable sources of the mass.
Our eyes may witness different
events and our ears should not be off to
listen. Our minds should balance creative and
critical thinking, our tongue must be careful
in delivering information to the crowd which
is composed of different perspective, point
of views and beliefs.
Who are behind the spread lies? Are
they one of the famous journalists?
People who create news without
any basis were not said to be journalists.
Journalist’s blood circulates into its veins
spreading truth and conscience works to
survive and defeat the world of fake news.
Nowadays, fake news is rapidly
growing on social media and unreliable
websites namely: adobochronicles.
com, thephilippinetrend.com,
thephilippinechronicles.com, ermitastimes.
com, mosquitopress.net and the like. A
disease spreads quickly into human brains
and destroys hundreds of truth.
The world is round. Lies over
truth were defined. Different gossips were
articulated by defective bloggers down to
people following their blogs. Lots of fake
news were posted by unreliable sources on
social media seen by different people all over
the world.
The spread of fake news affects
thousands of people around the world. Just
like what happened to Communication Asec.
Mocha Uson recently named as “Fake News
Queen” by some of the twitter netizens, but
ironically, she said that she’s also a victim of
fake news.
Everybody has the right to
strengthen Freedom of Expression but not

to the extent that it would affect the mass
by raising different issues against a person
or a group of people. If this case will not
be solved urgently, citizen’s trust to the
Government will be lost.
We readers, listeners, audience
must know how to identify real news from
fake news. We must be reminded to be alert
and learn to distinguish news that we should
believe to make it worthwhile.

Ang mga guro sa SHS at College Department
The competition started and finished
with a winning end for the contestants of
Marian College. Ayralyn Tagle got the 3rd
place for the Essay Writing Competition,
Jelcy Mae Tiongson who participated in
Extemporaneous Speech got the 2nd place.
On the other hand, Christine Mae Rico
(Talumpating Handa) and Jashmer Caleon
(Talumpating Di Handa) both received the 5th
place award.
The success of the contestants may
not had been possible without the guidance of
their coaches and the support of the school.

Isang malaking karangalan para sa mga
myembro ng The Marian Inscription
ang makalahok sa isang malawakang
pagtitipon-tipon ng mga kabataang
manunulat mula sa iba’t ibang paaralan sa
NCR at mga kalapit na lalawigan.
Iba’t ibang bihasa sa larangan ng
pagsulat ang nakadaupang palad ng mga
kabataang manunulat noong ika-18 at ika-
20 ng Setyembre, 2017. Ang pagtitipon ay
ginanap sa Philippine Normal University

click”, TMI inspires students to “Think, Express,
Write and Take Photo”
During the College Intramurals
on October 11 and 12, 2017, The Marian
Inscription built a photo booth with the theme
#CaptureYourHugot at the ground floor which was
approved by the Officer-In-Charge for College
Affairs. This was made by the organization not
just to raise funds but also to give entertainment
to the students and teachers of Marian College of
Baliuag.
The booth became attractive and catchy
because of its features, different emoticons and
sample hugot lines were posted on it. It gave the
students a chance and opportunity to express what
they feel through an illustration board and colored
chalk where they’re going to write their hugotlines
to be captured.The students paid Php15.00 where
one of their pictures was printed and the rest of the
photos were posted on the official Facebook
page of The Marian Inscription.

na natutunan mula sa seminar ang siyang

Ang The Torch Publication na
nangasiwa sa Journalism Training Seminar
ay nag gawad ng sertipiko ng paglahok
sa mga nagsidalo pati narin sa mga
eskwelahan na nakiisa dito.
Surprisingly, high school students
and senior kinder pupils excitedly joined
and participated in the fund raising booth of
the organization. Of course, with the special
participation of the Vice President, Mr. Ruperto
Viñas and the Administrator of the school, Mrs.
Narcisa Viñas and our beloved Officer-in-charge
for College Affairs, Mrs. Ma. Catherina I. Reyes,
the Program Heads, college faculty and students.
The photo booth would not become
successful without the help of the supportive TMI
adviser, Mrs. Ma. Emely F. Pondare, who played
an important role in this activity. She was the one
who asked and encouraged the students to capture
their hugot lines. The booth became attractive with
the help of BSED 3 who designed it perfectly.

10 Uri ng Estudyante
ni Paul John Cabance
Iba’t ibang katangian ng kaklase ang mayroon sa bawat estudyante. Bukod sa baon, ito ang isa sa mga pinaka masayang parte
at kumukumpleto sa pagiging estudyante. Maraming uri o mga ugali ang iyong mararanasan sa bawat silid aralan na iyong
mapapasukan. Ito ang mga iilan sa mga katangina: katangian:
HUBARAN
Ito yung mga uri ng estudyanteng
excited umuwi, yung tipong kapapasok pa
lang gusto na agad maghubad ng polo sa
bahay, yung tipong tunog na lang ng bell yung
hinihintay ready to go home na. Sila rin yung
madalas puyat at palaging nasa labas ang isip.
At ang pinaka malupit, mataas pa nakukuha
nila sa quizzes at exams.
DAHAN DAHAN
Ito naman yung mga uri ng estudyante
na palaging late kung pumasok. Tamad at
dahan-dahan kung kumilos. Kadalasan puyat
kakapanood ng kung anu–ano sa internet. Ito
rin yung estudyante na pag naupo ayaw na
tumayo. Madalas din itong wanted at hindi
mamataan tuwing cleaners.
KAININ MO MUNA
Eto naman yung mga estudyanteng
palaging canteen ang diretso, yung tipong
“Ma’am CR lang po” pero makikita mo sa
canteen kumakain na ng lunch. Kadalasan
sila yung mga estudyanteng palaging tatlo sa
grupo.
SIPSIPAN
Eto naman yung mga estudyanteng
malapit kay Teacher. At palaging
nagsusumbong ng mga estudyanteng pasaway.
Sila rin yung pala-review at palaging mataas
nakukuha sa exams at quiz. Madalas din silang
sumamasagot tuwing recitation at nagpiprisintang
magsulat sa white board.
PASOK NA
Eto naman yung mga estudyanteng
masipag pumasok. “Early bird” kung tawagin.
Sila yung mga genius sa klase at palaging
kinokopyahan tuwing di nakatingin si Teacher.
Madalas silang tahimik at hindi nakikigulo sa
mga pasaway.
MASAKIT NA
Sila naman yung mga kadalasang
binubully sa klase, mga “nerd” kung tawagin
ng iba pero kadalasan sila ang mga mapag–
pasensya at matured umintindi sa mga
kaklaseng kulang sa pansin. Kahit masakit na
tinitiis pa din nila.
MADUGO
Sila yung mga estudyanteng mahilig
o magaling sa Mathematics dahil kahit madugo
na nasasagutan pa din nila. Lalo na yung
problema ni X na mula umpisa tinatanong na
sa klase kung nasaan yang X na yan. Wala na
bes, Sumama na sa iba. Wag na hanapin yung
wala! qiqil muh c aqu eh!!

HUGUTIN MO NA
Sila naman yung mga estudyanteng
panay ang hugot sa pag– ibig kahit nagka-klase
na. “okay class, find the missing value” tapos
kakana yan ng “Ma’am wala na pong value
kaya hindi na nya ko hinanap”. Kadalasan
wala silang lecture at puro quotes lang ang
laman ng notebook nila.
ILABAS MO NA
Sila naman yung mga estudyanteng
may itinatagong galing at talino, ngunit
mahiyain at hindi palasali sa mga contest
sa school, sila kadalasan yung mga multi–
talented ngunit di ipinapakita sa iba dahil
nga NAHIHIYA silang ILABAS ang talent
nila. Sila yung mga madalas na tahimik din
at palaging mataas ang score sa test pero pag
tinanong mo kung anong sagot sa number 2, di
niya sasabihin. AYAW NYA KASI ILABAS.
MASARAP PALA
Hindi ito uri ng estudyante, pero
isang pakiramdam ng pagiging estudyante.
Oo masarap na mahirap. Mahirap dahil sa
mga patung-patong na subjects na bumabaon
sayo. Napapanaginipan mo tuwing gabi
kaya di ka makatulog ngunit masarap dahil
maraming nabuong samahan sa loob ng iisang
eskwelahan, mga samut-saring ugali ang
matutuklasan pero hindi pa rin mawawala ang
pagmamahalan.
Marami pang ibang uri ng estudyante ang ating MAKAKAsaMA habang tayo ay nag-aaral. Kaya kung ano pa man
ang ugali mo, habang nasa paaralan ka na iyong PINAPASUKAN, siguraduhin mong MAKAKARAOS KA.

Mga kabataan ang pag-asang sinisigaw,

But remember it is just a trap
Because we already forget Him

Seminar

July 15, 2017, the Student Activity
Coordinator College for Affairs headed by
Mr. Bengie Tolentino conducted a seminar
entitled “Gender Sensitivity” at the 4th floor
D-wing of Marian College of Baliuag which
was participated by the college students and
faculty members.
The purpose of the seminar is to
promote gender equality and fairness to each
individual. The seminar became interesting
to the students and teachers who attended
because most of them relate themselves to the
topic.
The speaker of the said seminar was
Mr. Marnick Sebastian Gutierrez, a public
high school teacher and currently studying
MAED-English Language and Electives in
Teaching Education at the Philippine Normal
University.
He pointed out that every individual
is unique, no matter what their gender is,
we have to respect them as individual who
have different perspectives in life. He also
emphasized that we need to be educated about
the different abilities that men and women can
do.
It was a knowledgeable seminar for
everyone who participated and listened in the
Gender Issues that the speaker had discussed.

Writing and Job Application Techniques
Seminar was held on September 05, 2017 at
HapChan Restaurant Baliuag, Bulacan.
The seminar started at exactly
10 o’clock in the morning where all 4th
year college students and BSIT 3 attended
together with the Program Heads of the
different departments.
Mr. Niño Rodriguez, the Hapchan
Branch Manager gave tips on how to make an
effective resume for the graduating students
that may help them during their future job
application. The speaker also discussed the
do’s and don’ts in a formal interview.
After the knowledgeable discussion
about resume writing, Mr. Arthur Aben, the
Area Manager of Hapchan Restaurant gave
tips and advices on how to prepare for an
interview. He also engaged the students to
the discussion by asking questions such as
“Tell me something about yourself”, “Why
should I hire you?” and “What is your edge
to the other applicants?.”
The attendees have been equipted
and are now ready to outshine as they face
the field of work of their choice. The seminar
served as an instrument for the students of
Marian College to be able to nail their future
job interview and showcase the experience
that makes them the ideal candidate for the
job position.

For the very first time, the BSIT students,
spearheaded by their adviser, Mr. Ken Lordian S.
Derla, participated on the 3rd day of this year’s
15th Youth Congress on Information Technology
that was held on September 7, 2017 at the SMX
Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay
City. The event was organized by UP System
Information Technology Foundation, Inc. (UPSITF).
During the opening of the event, Engr.
Denis Villorente, Undersecretary for Development
and Innovations of Department of Information
and Technology (DICT), delivered his keynote
speech. It was then followed by different resource
speakers from different institutions and companies,
both local and international. Technologies
such as 3D Printing, Augmented Reality and
Voice Recognition were discussed in the event.
Skills development and Information Security
Privacy in the country were also highlighted.

As part of the event, different sponsors
like Accenture, Converge, Kalibrr, Manila Bulletin,
SPi Global, JobStreet.com, BusinessWorld, 3D2Go,
and others have their booths in the exhibit hall where
the participants can get cool and exciting prizes.
The event was concluded by the Never
The Strangers band as they performed some of their
popular songs before the participants of the event.

October 11-12, 2017, the College
Department celebrated its College Days:
College Intramurals 2017 with the theme,
“Reaping Excellence through the Spirit
of Sportsmanship”. The program started
at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning at the
covered court of Marian College of Baliuag
The college students were divided into 3
teams namely: Red Horse, J.A Blue, and
Yellow Cab.
To formally open the College
Intramurals 2017, the team leaders lighted
a torch which symbolizes peace and unity,
and emphasize the oath of sportsmanship led
by Fredieric Reyes. To start with the contest
proper, each team showcased their winning
performances during the Field Demonstration
using the props assigned such as hula-hoops,
balls, and ribbon sticks.
On the first day, the events are
Badminton Boys and Girls, Badminton Mix
Doubles, Volleyball Boys and Girls and
Basketball Boys and Girls elimination for the
Championship.
After the morning activities, there
was a boodle fight where the students, teachers
and the admin staff showed that despite of its
small population they are united. Afterwards,
a badminton exhibition game was played by
the team advisers. Mr. Derla and Mrs. Pondare
won the exhibition game.
Aside from ball games, each team
also manifested camaraderie in playing Suot-
Lusot and Jumping Rope.
The most awaited part of the event
was the final match between J.A. Blue and
Red Horse for the basketball championship
game.
The Intramurals of Marian College
ended by an awarding ceremony where Mr.
Benjie Tolentino announced the winners.
For the dance contest - Red Horse; The Most

for Men’s Volleyball, Charrie Lynn Ubiña

at bigyan ng pinakamataas na parangal.
Noong ika-6 ng Octobre taong kasalukuyan,
nagdaos ng isang munting programa ang
departamento ng kolehiyo upang pasalamatan
ang mga dakilang guro ng Marian College of
Baliuag, Inc. sa pangunguna ng Presidente ng
Konseho ng mga Estudyante, G. Mairon Sage
Gonzales.
Ang programa ay nagumpisa sa
ganap na alas-nuwebe ng umaga sa D-wing 4th
floor ng nasabing paaralan. Ito ay sinimulan
sa pagpapanood ng video presentation na

Bakas sa mukha ng mga guro ang tuwa at
ligaya, sapagkat kanilang naramdaman ang
pagmamahal at paghanga ng kani-kanilang
mga estudyante.
Matapos ang tawanan at biruan, isang
makabagbag damdaming mensahe ng mga
mag-aaral ang binigyang daan sa programa.
Tunay naman nakakaantig ng kalooban ang
pahayag ng mga mag-aaral para sa kanilang
mga guro. Bukod sa pagbibigay ng mensahe,
naghanda rin ang mga ito ng mga regalo.
At sa pagtatapos ng programa, malugod na
nagpahayag ng mensahe si Ginoong Ruperto
G. Viñas, Bise-Presidente ng Paaralan.
Todo ang kanyang pasasalamat para sa mga
estudyante ng kanilang paaralan at sa mga

“Ang kahirapan ay hindi hadlang sa tagumpay”.
Ito ang pinapatunayan ni Jefferson Santos
Magat, isang mag-aaral ng ikatlong baitang sa kursong
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration ng
Marian College of Baliuag.
Paggapas sa bukid ang nakasanayang trabaho
ni Jeff. Ito ang kaniyang hanapbuhay upang matustusan
ang kanyang pag-aaral at tulungan ang kaniyang mga
magulang at kapatid.
Si Jeff ang panganay sa tatlong magkakapatid.
Ngunit nang siya ay isinilang, inakala ng kaniyang mga
magulang na siya ay patay na. Nabalot ng kalungkutan
ang kaniyang mga magulang sapagkat siya ang unang
anak. Hanggang sa isang kamangha-manghang
pangyayari ang naganap, nang malapit na siyang ilibing,
narinig nila ang iyak ng sanggol.
“Oo binigyan ako ng pangalawang pagkakataon upang
mabuhay, naging sakitin ako ngunit hindi ko ipinakita
na ako’y mahina”, ani Jeff.
Ang kaniyang ina ay isang mananahi at ang
kaniyang ama ay kasalukuyang isang construction worker
na pangunahing pinagkukunan ng kanilang pang-arawaraw
na gastusin. Noong naging OFW ang kanyang ama
ng 2 taon sa Qatar kahit papaano’y nakapagpundar sila
ng bahay sa Candaba, Pampanga. Mayroon silang maliit
na lupain kung saan sila ay nagtatanim ng palay at iba
pang mga pananim.
Lumaki si Jeff sa isang simpleng paraan ng
pamumuhay. Sa murang edad naranasan ni Jeff gumapas,
at mamasukan sa bumibili ng palay upang maghakot at
magbuhat ng saku-sakong palay. Sa kabila ng maulan at
mainit na panahon patuloy pa rin ang kaniyang pagkayod
kapalit ng apat na raang piso at bigas na bigay ng mayari
ng palayan.
“Nag trabaho ako upang magkaroon kami ng
bigas at pantustos sa pag-aaral”, sabi niya. Naranasan
din niya maglako ng isda at magtrabaho sa palengke.
Nag trabaho din siya sa bilihan ng mineral water, sa edad
na 17 patuloy ang pagbabanat ng buto ni Jeff upang
makatulong sa kaniyang pamilya at makapag aral.
Nang siya ay mag-aral sa kolehiyo
ipinagpatuloy niya ang pagiging working student nang
mag-apply siya bilang isang service crew sa isang fastfood
chain at matanggap sa programa na Skills Enhancement
and Educational Development for Students ng Marian
College.

Walang Mahirap sa Taong May Pangarap

Ang trabaho niyang ito ang naging daan upang
maipagpatuloy niya ang kaniyang pag-aaral sa kolehiyo.
Noong unang dalawang taon pa lamang niya sa kolehiyo
ay maayos pa siyang nakakapagtrabaho, subalit ngayong
nasa ikatlong taon na, siya ay medyo nahirapan gawa
ng laging pagpupuyat kaya huminto siya sa trabaho sa
fastfood chain.
Hindi rin naging balakid sa pag-aaral ni
Jeff ang layo ng kanilang bahay, buong tiyaga niyang
binibiyahe mula Pampanga patungong Baliuag arawaraw.
Pagdating niya sa bayan ng Baliuag ay nilalakad
na niya ito hanggang sa kaniyang paaralan. Sa loob ng
tatlong taon hanggang sa kasalukuyan ito ay kaniyang
ginagawa.
“Kailangan ko kasing magtipid baka may biglang
kailangan sa eskwelahan” sabi ni Jefferson. Pagkatapos
naman ng kaniyang klase ay agad siyang umuuwi
upang matulungan pa niya ang kaniyang magulang sa
gawaing bahay pag walang takdang aralin o proyekto sa
eskwelahan.
Naging miyembro si Jeff ng College Student
Council noong siya ay nasa unang taon sa kolehiyo
naging aktibo siya sa iba’t ibang aktibidad sa paaralan.
Ngunit nitong natapos na semester sinubok ang tatag ng
loob ni Jeff nang magkaroon ng problema ang kanilang
pamilya, nagkasakit ang kaniyang ama at nagkaroon ng
sabay-sabay na gastos sa eskwelahan silang magkapatid.
Hindi siya nakakuha ng huling pagsusulit sapagkat hindi
pa niya nababayaran ang kaniyang balanse sa matrikula.
Muntik na siyang panghinaan ng loob, naisip niya na
baka maging dahilan ito ng paghinto niya sa pag-aaral
ngunit dahil ang Diyos ay mapagpala dininig agad nito
ang panalangin ni Jeff at nakahanap sila ng solusyon
upang mabayaran ang kanyang matrikula.
“Minsan naiisip ko, buti pa iyong mga mayayaman
napakaswerte nila nakakapasa agad, samantalang
iyong mga batang mahirap at gustong mag-aral sila pa
iyong nahihirapan, minsan naiisip ko napaka-unfair ng
buhay”, paliwanag ni Jeff. Sa ngayon kahit papano’y
naigagapang pa ang kaniyang pag-aaral. Hinahangad
niya na sana matapos niya ang kaniyang pag-aaral dahil
gusto niyang matupad ang kanyang mga pangarap sa
buhay.
“Ang masasabi ko lang basta may pangarap ka,
mahirap ka man o mayaman, walang hadlang para hindi
maabot iyon. Kasi ikaw ang gumawa ng pangarap mo,
kung ano iyong mga ginagawa mo para sa pangarap mo,
balang araw may makukuha kang ginhawa para sa sarili
mo. Ang kailangan mo lang magtiwala sa Diyos at sa
sarili mo na kaya mo”, ani pa ni Jeff.

“A decision to donate blood can save
one’s life” – Richard J. Gordon (Philippine
Red Cross Chairman and CEO).
PRC needs 2500-3000 blood units
to satisfy the blood demand of the Filipinos.
The process of donating blood will take an
average of 30 minutes. After the extraction,
the blood will replenish within 24 hours. The
Marian College of Baliuag bonded together
with the Philippine Red Cross team (Baliuag
Chapter) to conduct an activity that aims to
assemble all the healthy students, instructors
and civilians to donate their blood. October
10, 2017, the activity held in Mock Hotel
(Marian College Facility) at around 9:00AM
to 1:00PM.
The registration in-charge are
the NSTP students (BSBA-I) under the
supervision of Mr. Don Ortiz. After the
registration, the participants will proceed to
the screening booth for their blood-pressure
and the vital signs be checked and to asses
if qualified to donate blood. The required
weight is atleast 110 lbs. (50kgs). Donors
with skin tatoos are allowed to donate
blood provided that the tattoo have been
applied a year prior to the blood donating
Guidance Center: Celebrates Suicide
Awareness and Prevention Month 2017

` As a response to the global effort in
raising awareness in the realities of suicide
and depression, the Guidance Center of the
Marian College conducted a seminar with
the theme “Take A Minute, Change a Life”.
It was held on October 2, 2017 at the 4th
floor D-Wing of Marian College of Baliuag
headed by Ms. Vinaflor Z. Santos,RPm,
psychometrician and Ms. Ma. Adora C.
Tigno,RGC, Guidance Counselor. It was
attended by the college students and faculty
members.
Mrs. Tigno presented the recent
statistics and some of the famous cases of
suicide. She discussed how to notice signs of
suicidal behavior along with the risk factors.
She also gave warning against taking talks of
suicide in a teasing and dismissive manner as
this is already a warning sign, a cry for help.
The life savers of Marian College who donated blood during the
activity. It was assisted by the Caregiving
students under the advisory of Mr. Ivyn De
Lara, the Caregiving Instructor.
The blood donors includes the SHS
and College students, College instructors,
High School teachers, parents and relatives
of the students. In exchange, the volunteers
were given Blood Donation Card that they
can use in times of emergency.
She also pointed out that there are
ways to show love and care to a suicidal
person. First, be yourself to let them know
that you truly cares. Then, be sympathetic and
listen to their problems and frustrations.
Lastly, offer hope, be an eye opener to serve
as an extension of one’s life.

The program was a success. Thanks
to the blood letting program, it saves the life
of many and gives hope to everyone.
At the end of the seminar, the
attendees, as one prayed the Prayer Against
Suicide. They also recited the Stop Suicide
Pledge to make a commitment in relation
to talking more openly about suicide and
helping those in distress.

Marian College Badminton team
fought on its third year in BulPriSA
District III Meet on September 11,
2017. The team was composed of Czarina
Marie Flores, John Rocky Fiel, Aljon
Payuran of BSHM III and Fredieric Reyes
of BSBA III. The sports event was held at
Baliwag Star Zone.
The Men’s Doubles, Fiel and
Reyes prevailed during the Championship
Game against Baliuag University after
winning the 2 set game, they shall advance
in the Provincial Meet to be held at Bocaue,
Bulacan.
Flores, Women’s Single delegate
won against BU on a do or die Championship
Match. She will advance at the Provincial
Meet.
For Men’s Singles, Payuran won
the game against AISAT, but after facing the
unbeatable delegate of Baliuag University,
he lose 2 set game against the opponent.
Marian Badminton Team Wins
Championship 3peat

Payuran won as first placer.
On October 20, 2017, the day of
the battle among the 4 Districts, MaCiPriSA
and CSanPriSA in BulPriSA Provincial
Meet Badminton Singles and Doubles. Ms.
Czarina Marie Flores, Mr. John Rocky Fiel
and Mr. Frederic Reyes, represented the
District III.
All Marian delegates played on
the Championship Match of the BulPriSA
Provincial Meet where Reyes and Fiel
nailed their third consecutive years as the
Champion of Badminton Men’s Doubles
against the best players of different districts
in Bulacan. On the other hand, Flores gave
her best to defeat the player of District IV but
after losing on the quarter finals game and
championship match due to knee injury, she
bagged the first place medal.
At the end of the event, District III
got 4 out of 6 golds that made the school
proud of them.

Before the highly arisen varieties of
social media sites like Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter or even several
dating platforms, there exists an
interesting site called Tumblr. Although the
mentioned sites above have more active users
than Tumblr, some of the aspiring bloggers
like me sees that it is far different from any
other sites. From dashboard and the contents
itself, we can say so. And for the creative
minds, it suggests a good place to peruse
inspiration for arts and media arts that can
broaden the idea of an artist.
Looking at a larger picture, Tumblr
is also a social site that lets you post contents
specifically audios, videos, photos, GIFs
(which Tumblr contributed to officially add
it in Oxford Dictionary) and quotes. Quote
posting is interesting because the words are
large in font size and includes a separate
section that lets you write the author/writer
of the quote. You can also see interesting
and sensible arguments in different threads.
And lastly, it let’s you choose vast number of
categories for interests to filter out what you
want to see in your dashboard or feed.
Moreso, there are Pros & Cons once you’re
into it or at least planning to be a “blogger”.
First, you can view almost all interests on the
site, unless a particular user refused to post
it publicly. There are blogs that are dedicated
to everything, even sh*t posts. It’s like a
virtual interest box. Second, most memes and
text jokes existed there first; even Facebook
users agree with that. Third, it’s not exactly
a socializing platform. Users there are more
after the contents, you can stare scroll and
even re-blog through blogs without it being
weird if you hit the follow button. Also,
serious discussions like world events, issues
like racism and sexism and a lot more are
present there. And mostly, the dialogue is
great. But, let’s not stick with the pros only.
On the other hand, the cons of the
user interface and/or the site itself. First in the
list, if you think arguments on several sites
are bad, Tumblr could be worse. There are
also a portion of users who aren’t properly
mannered to say humble and kind words.
It’s a blogging platform that lets you put any
content you want. I mean anything. What
could be worse? Next, a re-blog lets you
put a content on your own separate thread.
That means a misinformation can spread in
no time. Lastly, plagiarizing by grabbing
contents stubbornly a specific content and
reposting it without the discretion or credit
from the original owner. Who wants that?
Despite the bad apples that have
been mentioned, we have to know that it
is still our choice that lead us to something
whether it is right or wrong. This means it
applies to all kinds of social media.

at exactly 7:30AM at SJBA covered court.
Team Captain, Marlon Santiago cheered his
team before the game started. The intense
cheers of the crowd tightened up the heat
of the game. The second set of the game
was in favor of Marian College with the
score 25-15. “Magandang laban pero kaya
naman namin”, Jayvee Estrella said when
asked about their game against SMCB.
Marianers showed their wrath
in BulPriSA Provincial Meet 2017 Men’s
Volleyball on October 18-21, 2017 at Jesus
is Lord College Foundation in Bocaue,
Bulacan. The championship game was
between Marian College of Baliuag, Inc.
and Lourdes School of San Jose del Monte.
They showed their forceful
defense and heated up the game. It’s been
a challenging game for the MCB team
but they didn’t lose hope, they gave their
crucial spikes, strong blocking and digging
defense that made the Lourdes School
players pressured.
Marian College volleyball boys
nipped the victory in the Provincial Meet.
Their success is not a miracle but the great
leadership and excellent teamwork is the
reason behind. Marian College Volleyball
Boys is surely one of the teams to beat in.
It has been another pride of the College
Department and as well as the school itself.
Mrs. Maria Fe V. Lara, the school president
expressed her happiness as regards to
the victory “Natutuwa ako dahil ito ay
achievenemt ng school at pinagsikapan ng
mga bata iyan”.

The battle between the Marian
College versus Bestlink College for the
Championship game was unpredictable.
The first set of the game was announced
as default because MCB players did not
arrive on time. The said decision didn’t
deplete the fighting spirit of the team.
The heat, sweat and thirst didn’t halt the
Marianers for snatching the 2nd, 3rd and
4th sets. The athletes were astonishing for
their showmanship and teamwork during the
game. They have proven that even they were
plunged down they will rise above all.
