Session 3<br />
This third session will focus on <strong>the</strong> objectives of teaching<br />
<strong>play</strong>ers in <strong>the</strong>se age groups how <strong>to</strong> <strong>build</strong> <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>back</strong>.<br />
Session Structure<br />
We will start <strong>the</strong> session with <strong>the</strong> FIFA 11 warm up pro<strong>to</strong>col,<br />
and progress with two technical exercises (star<br />
Final Game<br />
passing) designed <strong>to</strong> train passing and receiving in a pattern<br />
that emulates <strong>the</strong> technical demands and movements Game Situations<br />
when <strong>build</strong>ing <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>back</strong>.<br />
The next exercise is a game situation designed <strong>to</strong> train Technique Training<br />
three <strong>play</strong>ers (central defenders) <strong>to</strong> keep possession<br />
against two opponents. Fur<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong>y try <strong>to</strong> advance <strong>the</strong><br />

ball <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> next zone where two <strong>play</strong>ers (midfielders) will<br />
coordinate <strong>the</strong>ir movements <strong>to</strong> provide passing options.<br />
The next two activities would be a 6v4 +Keeper (phase<br />
of <strong>play</strong> in zones designed <strong>to</strong> isolate <strong>the</strong> chain of <strong>play</strong> and have <strong>play</strong>ers taking advantage numbers up in <strong>the</strong><br />
various situations on <strong>the</strong> field.<br />
If <strong>the</strong> numbers allow it, <strong>the</strong> coach can finish with a 9v9 game or a similar variation. In <strong>the</strong> game, <strong>the</strong> coach<br />
can concentrate on highlighting some realistic situations when <strong>build</strong>ing <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>back</strong>.<br />

Session 4<br />
We initiate <strong>the</strong> session with <strong>the</strong> FIFA 11 warm up pro<strong>to</strong>col,<br />
followed by a 20 minute technical exercise (star<br />
passing). This technical routine is similar <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> one presented<br />
in <strong>the</strong> previous session. The idea is <strong>to</strong> progress on<br />
some of <strong>the</strong> technical demands introduced in session 2.<br />
The next exercise is a 5v3 game situation. It trains <strong>the</strong><br />
ability of <strong>play</strong>ers <strong>to</strong> use passing and receiving techniques<br />
under pressure, similar <strong>to</strong> situations that <strong>the</strong>y would encounter<br />
in a game.<br />
The field setup forces <strong>play</strong>ers <strong>to</strong> begin in a diamond<br />

The session progresses with a 4v3 game that works <strong>the</strong> wide chain of encouraging possession and quick<br />
movement of <strong>the</strong> ball, allowing <strong>the</strong> <strong>play</strong>er in possession time and space <strong>to</strong> make decisions.<br />
We finish <strong>the</strong> session with an 8v7 game, on a part of <strong>the</strong> field with a condition that forces <strong>build</strong>up and <strong>play</strong>ers<br />
moving <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r, while <strong>the</strong> try <strong>to</strong> <strong>build</strong> up <strong>play</strong>.<br />
