Selwyn has weekly and occasional markets. WEEKLY MARKETS DARFIELD MARKET A group of small business entrepreneurs gather on Darfield’s South Terrace every Saturday, to sell fresh baking, vegetables, hazelnuts, local arts and crafts, and other items; 10am-1pm. LINCOLN FARMERS & CRAFT MARKET Seasonal produce is available at Lincoln’s regular Saturday morning market, along with artisan baking, pastries, continental delicacies, confectionary, eggs, honey, nuts, oils, cheeses, plants, handmade clothing and crafts; 10am-1pm on Gerald Street. ROLLESTON ENVIROTOWN MARKET A market emphasising sustainability is held every second Sunday at Rolleston Square West. Seasonal locally grown produce (including organic), plants, locally made crafts and other items are available; 10am-1pm, Rolleston Drive. WEST MELTON MARKET The grounds of St Paul’s Anglican Church in West Melton provide a delightful setting for the market there every Saturday morning. Add in live music and a coffee and you have a reason to linger while browsing stalls selling vegetables, eggs, honey, delicious home baking (including gluten free), woodcraft, alpaca products, gifts, plants and more; 9am-12 noon. PREBBLETON COMMUNITY MARKET Have a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Prebbleton Community Cottage listening to live music and browsing a variety of stalls; 1st Sunday of the month, 12noon-3pm. EDENDALE EVENTS Every Sunday, a car boot sale is held at Edendale Café; on the corner of Sandy Knolls Road &State Highway 73; 10am-3pm. The café occasionally holds gala days and other organisations use the event area for fundraising and community activities like the Edendale Jam of local musicians. ANNUAL EVENTS HORORATA PARISH SPRING FAIR On Labour Day (Monday, 23 October 2017), the annual Hororata Parish Spring Fair is to be held; 9.30am-2pm. There will be White Elephant and other stalls selling homemade food delicacies, crafts, plants and specialty items, a Country Auction, live music and competitions. ELLESMERE SPRING FLING The Ellesmere Spring Fling will be held on Sunday, 8 October, at David Hobbs’ Broadfield Garden. It is the sole fundraiser for Lincoln & Districts Community Care Association Inc. Artisan foods, crafts and plants will be for sale along with quality food and beverages to enjoy while listening to live music or wandering the award winning garden.
