Also benefitting from having Rolleston nearby are many<br />
farms, lifestyle blocks and towns such as Burnham and<br />
Dunsandel, further to the south.<br />
The numbers of military based at Burnham are due to<br />
increase after 2018 when basic military training and other<br />
operations move from Waiouru to Canterbury. This is likely<br />
to see Rolleston become a busier place. Army personnel<br />
will shop in the town and enjoy its other amenities while<br />
many are also likely to settle there.<br />
Rolleston also benefits from its neighbouring settlements<br />
and towns. This includes Weedons which is a short drive<br />
away. While Weedons has no actual township, its country<br />
club/golf course and domain (the home of cricket in the<br />
area) augment Rolleston’s facilities and its primary school<br />
caters for children who live across the highway and railway<br />
line.<br />
