Noise damping

It is the difference between the intensity of the “noise” to which the operator is exposed and that actually transmitted to the

ear. The damping level is expressed in the following manners:

HML: this indicates the damping level based on the frequency of the noise: High (H), Medium (M), Low (L) frequency.

The damping values are expressed through a number preceded by a letter of the frequency to which it refers.

SNR: (Simplified Noise Reduction): it expresses the damping level of the protector through a single value

PPE and daily exposure level

Accordint to art. 193 D.Lgs 81/08, if the operator is exposed daily to:

› 80 dBA the employer poveides the workers with hearing PPE

› 85 dBA the employer demands the workers to use hearing PPE

The employer takes into account the attenuation provided by the personal protection devices worn by workers to assess the

efficency of PPE and compliance with maximum values of noise exposure [87 dB(A)]

Workers exposed to levels exceeding 80 dB (A) receive proper training and practical instruction (art. 195).

The legislation on company first aid classifies

the companies into 3 groups (A, B, C) according

to the type of activities carried out, the

number of workers and the hazard factors.

Based on this classification the employer must

guarantee some minimum equipment.

For companies of the groups A and B

(see table – p. 2 – at the beginning of the section

for details):

• every workplace must be equipped with a

first aid box which must always be complete,

updated and efficient and have at

least what stated in Annex 1.

For companies of the group C (see table – p.

2 – at the beginning section for details):

• Every workplace must be equipped with the

first aid pack which must always be complete,

updated and efficient and have what

stated in the Annex 2.

For companies with employees performing

activities in isolated places, different from

the corporate headquarters:

• First aid pack which must always be complete,

The basic first aid equipment is also needed

on company vehicles. In this case the requirements

those used for companies belonging

The hearing protectors are sorted

To adequately protect the eyes from the various hazards in the workplace

(mechanical, chemical, radiation) it is important to wear the right eye protection.

The items in the following pages are mainly eyeglasses with temples (to protect eyes

and, to a certain extent, ocular cavities) and goggles (to protect both the eyes and

the ocular cavities).

The factors to consider when choosing

are:

• Optical class: it is the quality of the

PPE and it includes 3 classes - 1, 2, 3

(1st class, top quality, suggested for a

prolonged use, 3rd class only for brief

periods of time

• Mechanical protection: divided into

2 base levels of strength (minimum

and improved) and 3 levels of energy

FACE SHIELDS

Safety visors and face shields are important to

protect the eyes and the face from the hazards one

may find in the workplace:

• mechanical hazard (dust, splinters, chips, sparks,

high-speed particles, etc.)

• eye hazard (UV and IR rays, laser, intense light,

etc.)

• chemical hazard (aerosol, vapours, fumes,

chemical splash, etc.)

• thermal hazard (cold or heat which can cause

lacrimation, inflammation, burns)

Shields are generally used for welding or when

working near hot objects and are hand held for

short periods of time. They protect the eyes, the face

and part of the neck. The front glass is transparent

or tinted and can be replaced.

Safety visors, generally more comfortable than

face shields, can be tilted in different positions,

embedded in the hard hat or directly worn and

adjusted for complete comfort. Since they offer

only a partial side protection it is advisable to wear

goggles and a mask under them when working

with liquids which can splash.

Mesh visors for forestry and gardening are also

available.

This equipment is indispensable to protect the

head from impacts, falling objects or collisions of

the head against hard surfaces / buildings. It is

ideal for operators that care for their safety at work

and look for a resistant, quality and comfortable

product.

Helmets, generally moulded from polyethylene or

ABS (lighter thermoplastic polymer), are made with

quality materials, are very durable and long lasting,

and are equipped with a durable, adjustable chin

strap to prevent loss during any impacts. They have

a 4 or 6 point strap (textile or plastic) which is easily

adjustable for a perfect adaptability to the shape

of the head, and a practical sweatband for comfort

during use. Some are equipped with ventilation

holes that help the air flow and splits where to put

ear muffs or face shields using special attacks. The

small front shield, if any, can be easily customized.

THE PERMANENT

HORIZONTAL LIFELINE

(PRIM SYSTEM)

it is a permanent and stable fall arrest anchor system used to work

safely on new constructions or where work on existing buildings and

roofs is needed. The operators, equipped with harness and appropriate

PPE including absorber, can access the roofing and provide the

necessary maintenance, moving safely from one point to another on

a horizontal axis, hooked to the line and protecting themselves from

the risk of falling. It is composed by a Ø 8 mm stainless steel cable,

which is hooked to intermediate and terminal supports (or poles if

any), and secured by brackets and anchor plates for fixing to a wall /

floor or poles. It is also equipped with rope tensioner with a tension

indicator and energy absorber, which is triggered in the event of a fall.

Lifelines should be installed by qualified technicians who, following

an inspection of the structure, will provide a correct design and, after

installation, will provide the certificate of conformity of the lifeline.

They are also subject to inspection and maintenance in accordance

with the deadlines set out in the user manual that contains all

technical data.

The guided type fall arrester on a

rigid anchor line provides individual

protection for safe access to a working

platform at high altitude through vertical

pathways (eg access and descent

through ladder, with the operator harnessed

and hooked through the fall

arrest device who moves without ever

having to leave the lifeline). It consists

of a rope with clamps to be installed to

the structure by means of connectors,

Starting from the base of a seamless, polyamide (nylon) glove and adding

a total or partial coating (polyurethane, nitrile, PVC, etc.) it is possible to

obtain a glove which many people consider the new millennium's gloves.

The cutting-edge technology applied to the materials, the durability, the

comfort, the aesthetics and their production continuity, make them the best

replacement of the traditional gloves in most dry applications or with little

presence of liquids.

Spongy, flexible and elastic, highly breathable polymer, with excellent grip

and durability properties. It provides excellent tactile sensitivity. Resistant

to oils and greases but with low chemical resistance properties. A very fine

film of a few hundredths of a millimetre, gives the glove amazing mechanical

characteristics but still maintains the elasticity, the comfort and the high tactile

sensitivity provided by the base yarn. This type of gloves don’t loose fluff and

don’t stain the handled product. They are highly breathable, permeable and

recommended for long-term delicate and precision work. Excellent abrasion

OF BOXERLINE®

These Boxerline® gloves, manufactured with the extremely resistant Dyneema®

polyethylene fiber, have been tested by DSM Dyneema® which have certified their

compliance with the rigorous standards for safety, performance and quality. The

Dyneema® mark is granted only to the gloves which pass these tests, to ensure

the final user that they comply with the most strict requirements. Dyneema®, the

strongest fiber in the world, is it’s much more resistant to cutting than artificial or

natural fibers (cotton and leather). When used in protective gloves it ensures a cut

level 3/4 (EN 388) without having to resort to composite fiber. Where the highest

level of resistance to cutting (level 5) is required Dyneema® yarn can be associated

with glass fibers or steel wire. Its abrasion resistance is extremely high and incomparable

Through a special production process the nitrile

compound is mixed with a small amount of waterbased

polyurethane. This forms micro air bubbles

The Rubber latex has outstanding elastic properties, it is flexible, soft and offers

an excellent resistance to abrasion and laceration and contributes to extend product

life. It resists to water-based chemicals, but it is not suitable in the presence

MICROFINISH®

THE ULTIMATE COATING TECHNOLOGY

Towa gloves have a special feature; the new Microfinish®

techology applied to the coating, with a unique glove surfacing

process. Most gloves used for slippery applications have a stiff

compound and rough surface coating, which is utilized in only a

very small percentage of the grip's surface area.

The MicroFinish® technology actually takes an opposite approach.

A soft and flexible compound is used and is filled with thousands

of microscopic pockets which, in contact with a surface,

create a vacuum effect (like small suction cups) that disperses

fluids and allows the entire grip surface to make clean contact

with the object obtaining a secure and better grip on both wet

and dry surfaces.

GLOVES

PROTECTION AND COMFORT FOR HEAVY-DUTY JOBS

The base is the most natural a glove can offer,

i.e. cotton. The jersey makes them slightly fleeced

on the inside facilitating the absorption of

sweat and optimizing the comfort.

The ergonomic design offers the fingers a greater

freedom of movement.

The N.B.R. coating (Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber)

provides excellent resistance to abrasion, solvents,

hydrocarbons and derivatives, oils and/

or grease. If present, the Sanitized® antibacterial

treatment prevents irritation, bacteria and

fungi proliferation.

700 SERIES

Ultralight, reduced thickness and anatomical

shape. They offer the comfort of a cotton,

light leather or PVC resin glove but with an

extremely superior duration. The slightly rough

surface allows for better grip. High resistance

to abrasion, oils and/or grease. Antibacterial

Sanitized® treatment to prevent irritation,

bacterial and fungi proliferation.

900 SERIES

The first series, the strongest and the most

resistant. They are available with knitwrist or safety

cuff. Partially ventilated on the back, or completely

coated, with smooth or Wrinkle finish, they are still

the best alternative to simple or reinforced leather

gloves for heavy duty, ensuring a lifespan of up to

300%. The special silicone-free compound and the

Sanitized® treatment make them the top of the

range.

1000 SERIES

With a 10% lighter coating compared to the 900

series but with the same compound the 1000

series provides greater handling where the use

requires slightly lower mechanical characteristics.

THE MOST SENSITIVE

Made of natural latex they are available with lubricant

powder or with a chlorination treatment on the inside.

They are suitable for short, delicate, and precise

operations and in those situations where it is necessary

to change gloves frequently. Ambidextrous, extremely

flexible and elastic, they perfectly fit both hands offering

maximum comfort and tactile sensitivity. Some items are

also suitable for food contact and/or compliant for use in

the medical field (Non-sterile Medical Devices).

Extra quality

Powder: inserted during production of the glove it is left

inside it to facilitate the fit, while also reducing the risk

of accidental breakage. The powder used is generally of

vegetable origin, corn starch (among the most tolerated

in contact with the skin), potato starch or talc.

Chlorination: washing process of the glove with

chlorinated water in order to eliminate any trace of

dust, impurities and bacteria so as to obtain an almost

completely hypoallergenic and contaminant-free glove.

The process is also used to reduce the risk of allergies in

latex gloves, thus making them suitable even for the most

intolerant and sensitive hands. It also makes them slightly

thicker and stronger.
