Staff News
This month, we say goodbye to Miss Kennedy
from P2 who is taking up a new post at
Longstone Special School. Miss Kennedy has
been working alongside Mrs Cummins in P2 for
two and a half years.
We wish to thank her for her hard work and
enthusiasm which she has brought to the
Foundation team and wish her every success for
the future.
Congratulations to Mrs Griffin (P5) and her
husband, Keith, on the birth of Oscar James
Griffin, born this morning. Mother and baby are
both doing well.
Crossing Patrol
Rathmore Primary is very lucky to have two
crossing patrol men who help our pupils cross
the Rathmore Road and Killeen Avenue each
day. However, with so many cars dropping off
children in the morning and picking them up in
the afternoon, the roads around Rathmore
Primary School are very busy. There have been
a few ‘close calls’ recently, which we are
reminding our pupils about in assembly. Could
we please encourage you to be vigilant of cars
and if necessary hold your child’s hand when
walking to and from school. The safety of our
pupils is our first priority.
PTA
Book Fair
Our Book Fair for this year will run from
Tuesday 27 February - Thursday 1 March,
coinciding with World Book Day on the
Thursday. You may browse and buy books
each afternoon in the foyer from 1.45-3.15pm.
Scratch Cards
This year, we are trying something new with
our fundraising for the month of February.
Scratch Cards have been sent home to al
families. For those families who are happy to sell
squares for £1, please do so and return the card
to the class teacher by 28 February. Each card
has a winning square with a prize of £5,
Parent Teacher Consultations
The teachers in the P1 to P6 classes will be
hosting their Parent Teacher Consultations
during the afternoons of Monday 05 to
Thursday 08 February 2018.
P1 - P6 classes will finish each day that week
(Monday - Friday) at 1.10pm and there will be
no after school activities. The Friday
afternoon is being used for year group
planning and strategic meetings.
P7 Parents - please note your children will
remain in school until 3.00pm Monday to
Thursday and will finish at 1.10pm on Friday
with the rest of the school. This will give them
plenty of time to rehearse for ‘Peter Pan’
Online Safety Workshop
On Monday, we were delighted to welcome
Grainne and Hamilton, who came and
delivered a workshop on keeping our kids
safe online. It was fantastic that so many
parents were able to make it out. As so many
could not make it, we will be pushing out the
information over the next few days on
Seesaw, Twitter and Facebook.
‘Take Me To Neverland'
Our P7s are practising very hard for their
performance of ‘Peter Pan’ on 20 & 22 March.
They are looking so impressive already and
we are sure it will be a spectacular event.
Tickets will go on sale at the end of the
month.
