enriching and creative classes – and

an opportunity to learn new skills

or build on existing talents. We

foster discovery and exploration,

and encourage students to enjoy

themselves in a safe, supportive

environment.

Our classes are small, so each child

receives one-on-one instruction and

personalized assistance. There are

many classes from which to choose,

so your child can look forward to

fun and exciting experiences at

SummerPrep. Make it a summer your

child will remember for a lifetime!

Classes are offered during both three-week sessions, unless otherwise noted in

course description. Sessions are not sequential.

Students may not have a gap in their schedule – there are no “free” periods

allowed during the day. SummerPrep campers arriving before 1st period may

join Before Care. Once afternoon camps have ended, students may come to

After Care. A daily snack will be served in the late afternoon.

Please sign up in advance for Extended Care (i.e. Before Care and/or After

Care) for one or more weeks at a time. Payment is due at the start of the week:

$10 per week for Before Care and $25 per week for After Care. After Care

ends promptly at 5:45 p.m., and there will be a late pickup fee ($1 per minute).

Lunch is available for purchase during SummerPrep. You can open a lunch account

through Sandia Prep’s Business Office by contacting Ann Dee Gonzales, Food

will be made available for sale during lunch and morning break.

Dismissal from SummerPrep

Students are expected to behave according to well-accepted principles of

behavior. SummerPrep has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. The

SummerPrep Director reserves the right to dismiss any student at any time. Refunds

will not be granted should a child be dismissed from SummerPrep.

Extended Care

The regular day at SummerPrep begins at 8:10

a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Before Care and After

Care, which are available for an additional cost,

will extend the student’s day from as early as 7:30

a.m. until as late as 5:45 p.m. Before Care helps

students get settled in the morning and ready for

their classes. If your student needs to extend the

day after the Afternoon Camp concludes, you may

sign up for After Care, which includes an afternoon

snack. The After Care program will have separate

areas for students to participate in games and

activities. All students must be picked up by 5:45

p.m. If parents are late to pick up students, an

additional late pickup fee will apply ($1 per minute

after 5:45 p.m.). Prices are for one full week; prorating

is not available.

Reading Adventures

Travel beyond the book and go on a reading

adventure! Create paintings, puppets, crafts,

characters, masks, and more based on favorite books

Numeroff (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie).

Ever wonder why a Triceratops had horns or why a

Summer is a time to have fun, be creative, make

Building Mathematical Minds

It’s important to be challenged, have fun, and feel

successful in mathematics, especially during

the early years of developing the mathematical

mind. Come and explore patterns, geometry,

statistics, measurement, data, and many types of

numbers. You will not only learn problem-solving

strategies but also how to recognize any math

misconceptions, all while having a great time.

This class has been approved by Sandia Prep’s

Mathematics Chair and can be taken for credit

Flamenco singing (cante) and its relationship to

This is an opportunity to turn your ideas and

opinions into movement! You don’t need any

dance background to be part of this collaborative

Explore the variety of methods involved in

bringing a theatrical production to life. Learn

how to follow design plans to paint large-scale

scenery and acquire faux painting techniques.

course in technical theater, including lighting,

safety, and puppetry. You will also have the option

of volunteering as crew for SummerPrep shows to

learn more about the behind-the-scenes activities

that make up a real theater production.

When the street urchin Aladdin vies for the

attention of the beautiful Princess Jasmine, he

uses a genie’s magic power to become a prince

in order to marry her. Iago, Jafar, Genie and

more are here in Disney’s Aladdin JR., a musical

adventure filled with magic, mayhem, and the

power of love. This high-energy musical is directed

and choreographed by professional dancer Louis

Giannini and is under the musical direction of

Kent Wall. Both are dedicated to helping children

build strong character, self esteem, confidence,

and discipline as the class participates in all

aspects of the production, including singing,

dancing, choreography, costume design, and set

Michael have sent many a nanny packing before

Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a

This one-act comedy brings a modern English

version of the Shakespearean play to the stage.

Preparations are under way for the high-profile

wedding of Theseus, Duke of Athens, and his

bride, the Warrior Queen, Hippolyta, but the

wedding planner, Sebastian, finds that he has more

problems with the guests than the happy couple...

including a rift in the Underworld, in-fighting

among the entertainers, and a mischievous sprite

Investigate the fascinating world of forensics!

Explore the fundamentals of assembling evidence

and identifying a criminal. Use fragments of

will be immersed in the life of a detective and

engage and develop problem-solving skills.

Comparative Anatomy

What do you have in common with an earthworm

or a crayfish? How do starfish eat? What’s inside

Star Wars: Jedi Training 1

May the Force be with you as you embark on an

epic adventure! Learn about the history of Star

Wars from the rise of the Empire, to the Clone

Wars and the start of the Jedi Council. A strong

Jedi must know the basics of engineering behind

ships, droids, and lightsabers, and understand

different alien species. By the end of the three

weeks, you will be well on your way to becoming

a Jedi.

An extension of Jedi Training 1, you will focus

on mastering lightsaber techniques and build on

Our youth basketball camp is designed to teach

future basketball stars the fundamentals of the

sport. Work on your mad b-ball skills: dribbling,

footwork, passing, and of course, shooting.

Dodgeball

Dodge, dip, duck, and dive through the game of

dodgeball. Using foam balls, hone your throwing,

aiming, and dodging skills on teams grouped by

grade level.

GOOOOALLLL! What better time than summer

to learn to play soccer or practice your everimproving

Ever wish you could master the bow and arrow like

Katniss or Hawkeye? Now’s your chance! This class

Do you have a passion for debate? Experience

the thrill of the courtroom in SummerPrep’s

Law Camp. Over the course of a week, our

Law Camp will help future lawyers, judges, and

politicians gain an understanding of the law and

how our court system works. Learn about our

Constitution and laws through fun and engaging

games and exercises. Put your debate and public

speaking skills to use by holding your very own

mock trial. Master courtroom techniques, from

opening and closing statements to examining

and cross examining witnesses. The Honorable

Judge Frank Sedillo will teach the course.
