WORKFORCE A WORKFORCE

WORKFORCE A WORKFORCE which has the skills, knowledge and experience to drive the growth of the game What we set out to achieve: • Increase the number of trained volunteers associated with clubs, schools and organisations • Improve the knowledge and skills of volunteers and professional staff • Reduce the numbers of volunteers dropping out of the game prematurely Achieving our outcomes? has been made with over 130 female officials and 60 coaches and young leaders trained. Clubs face the constant challenge of recruiting sufficient volunteers to fulfil the diverse range of roles. HCB aims to support this process by providing the appropriate training opportunities for coaches, umpires, scorers, groundstaff and club officials, as well as rewarding volunteers for their contribution in a variety of ways. Particular focus has been on training female coaches and officials through women and girls only courses. Progress Supporting and recognising the work of club groundstaff has also been a priority. Through the Hampshire County Groundsmanship Association, which now has approximately 120 members, club volunteers have benefited from pre and post season workshops led by the Head Groundsman at the Ageas Bowl. In addition groundstaff have also been encouraged to attend the formal Institute of Groundsmanship courses by offering a substantial subsidy. We hope this will encourage more volunteers to take the qualification in the future. 16
