Village THORPE ABBOTTS SOCIAL CLUB The New Year’s Eve Social Club event went extremely well. We had 75 members and friends and sold out of tickets. Dave Bacon still played excellently with enthusiasm even though he had a shoulder injury. Please do join us at our next Social Club evening on February 3rd when Brian Roy will be playing for us. On March 3rd we are pleased to see Dave Bacon again and April 7th we plan to host Annie. We look forward very much to seeing you all at the above events. Village The Flying F rtress Bar At Thorpe Abbotts Village Hall The Village Hall would like to thank all those who supported us through 2017. It was great to see so many from the village coming to the Hall and get to know their neighbours. We’re taking a break over January and February but will be launching again in the spring with a range of different activities throughout the year to encourage participation in village life and raise money for the Village Hall. Any ideas would be welcome, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or comment on our Facebook page. -------------------------------------------------------------- BROCKDISH AND THORPE ABBOTTS ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION Brockdish and Thorpe Abbotts Allotments Association (BATAAA) is run by a small group of volunteers for members of the local community. The allotments are situated at the end of Church Road in Brockdish, just before the bypass. We still have a few plots and half plots available. If you are interested, would like to find out more or would like to look round the site, please e-mail Rebecca Abrahall, BATAAA Secretary, at email@example.com or contact David Young on 01379 668556. 7
February always puts a spring in my step; a brand new month with so much to look forward to! Lighter evenings are creeping in and the region is beginning to wake up from its winter slumber. This month stately homes are opening their gates to a display of daffodils and snow drops (read our top 5 on page 29), there’s new art exhibitions inspired by the season ahead and we welcome the first festivals of 2018 – I’m looking forward to seeing Cambridge light up with the return of the e-Luminate Festival!
It’s also the month of love! To celebrate we have plenty of ideas for Valentine’s Day and a handy gift guide, plus a wedding special with 13 pages dedicated to planning the perfect big day in the East of England. We’ve found the quirkiest venues in the East, list the hottest décor trends for 2018 and have plenty of tips and advice, but if you want more head to our Weddings Facebook page for exclusive offers and ideas at www.facebook.com/eastlifeweddings/
