Funky Footwear It was

Funky Footwear It was lovely to see everyone get into the spirit of the day on Thursday…we saw a very wide range of creative ideas! The event raised £160 for Mercy-in-Action, which will allow Mrs Beardsley and her husband, Nigel, to purchase an activity parachute. They will then take this with them to Cebu in the Philippines at Easter, to do activities with the street children at the drop-in centre. Eighty-five grown-ups and children came to enjoy the fun of the Bingo evening hosted by Springmead School Association. There was a real sense of ‘family’, joy and fun at the event and we are grateful for the support and positive feedback. A great time was had by all… especially Seb Vaughan who won over £50! Thank you SSA!

World Book Day, Thursday 1st March On World Book Day, the children will be involved in exciting literacy activities. Hopefully they have started planning their outfit - as a character from a book. World Book Day is on Thursday so please make sure your outfit will fit into your swimming bag and no make-up or hair products please. (Don’t forget your coat) Year 5 Transition meeting, Thursday 8 th March There will be an important meeting for Year 5 children and parents on Thursday 8 th March at 8.30am. This will be an introduction to how we prepare children for their transition to secondary school and include what parents and children need to start thinking about. Feedback from last year’s meeting indicates that it is crucial for at least one parent per child to be there. We are hoping early planning will allow this to be possible. Year 4 Residential to London This time next week the Squirrels will be on their way back from their exciting residential trip to London. Whilst there, they will be taking part in a workshop, watching Aladdin and exploring the city. We hope they all have an amazing time and cannot wait to hear all about it when they are back! Chinese Pupils Next Thursday and Friday, we will be hosting four primary aged pupils from China who are on a visit to England and keen to experience life in one of our schools. Student Teacher Next week we will also be saying hello to another student, this time a grown-up one studying to be a teacher. Jessica King will be joining Mrs Munckton, Miss Harries and the Hedgehogs until Easter. Loose Change Please From Monday 19th February – Friday 23rd February Miss Lindley and Year 4 will be collecting your loose change (1ps, 2ps and 5ps) in the playground from 8.15am, for Mercy in Action which will be used as the media for a large playground piece of art work…all donations gratefully received! Holiday Club It is coming to that time of year again! February half term holiday will soon be approaching us. Please find attached the holiday club flyer. To book your space please email Kim Hobley at Thank you
