Friends Of Buckshaw Village Community Articles Offers will be confirmed online for all those who have applied on Lancashire County Council's online system for a secondary school place starting in September 2018. The online system will go live on the morning of Wednesday 1st March 2018 to allow online applicants to view their school offer. Please be patient as around 13,000 applicants may be trying to access information. Letters will be issued by second class post on 1 March 2017 to any applicants who have submitted a paper form. Good luck!! On the 18 January, a new law was introduced meaning you can’t be penalised for paying by card, either online or in-store. On Sunday 25th February and Sunday 4th March, engineering work is taking place between Clifton and Buckshaw Parkway / Hindley, closing all lines. All trains between Preston and Manchester Airport will be diverted, and won’t call at any stations between Chorley and Bolton, and trains between Preston and Manchester Victoria won’t be running. A replacement bus service will be available, so please check before you travel by using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner: http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/ Further information is available at: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disr uptions/today.aspx The new rules mean all surcharges for paying by credit or debit card have been banned, and this includes American Express and payment methods such as PayPal or Apple Pay. The rules have been put into UK law, so even if BREXIT happens, this will remain, and as it’s an EU directive, companies in the EU are also banned from charging extra fees. Companies are still able to charge you a booking or administration fee, but it has to apply to other forms of payment. You can also still be charged if you use a business credit or debit card. This is great news, especially if you’re making a large purchase. Those % charges soon add up! Follow us on facebook.com/buckshawfriends
