Peninsula REALTOR® February 2018

Presidents Message By

Presidents Message By Carl Burt, 2018 President Happy Valentine's Day “It is true some roses are red and violets are certainly blue, if you want to sell, buy or list a home a REALTOR® is the best one to help you.” CDB Old Man Winter showed up for January 2018, we had our share of snow and cold weather. The children were out of school as snow days accumulated. I hope each of you safely navigated the snowy and icy conditions. The second snow storm was less severe, as a result we did not cancel the Leadership training. The two Leadership training sessions were conducted by Lynne Wherry, Virginia Realtors Director of Association Relations. Both training sessions were engaging and informative. Our VPAR 2018 Leadership team is excited about serving the VPAR membership. We encourage participation in your association, if you want to be a member of a committee contact the VPAR Office or Committee Chairperson as soon as possible. During January our VPAR Committees met or scheduled meetings. The Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs I have spoken to have a high level of enthusiasm about trying some new and different activities this year and engaging our membership. We cancelled the January 4th, 2018 General Membership and other events because of snow and icy conditions, we plan to reschedule the meeting. The day before our scheduled VPAR Board, Chair and Co-Chairs training we had our second snow storm (January 18, 2018). Peninsula REALTOR® page 6 February 2018

Presidents Message Continued During the month of January, VPAR Board members Peggy Todd, RPAC Chair, Kaera Mims RPAC, our Legislative Liaison Susan Gaston and I met with Kathy Felton, Virginia Realtors Director of RPAC Development. We developed strategies to enhance our RPAC involvement and participation. I will be contacting committee chairs asking you to encourage your Realtor committee members to support RPAC. All committees that achieve 100% Realtor participation prior to June 2018 will have their photos taken, names listed and placed in our VPAR newsletter and website. Qualifying for the 2018 RPAC Triple Crown is a VPAR Presidential goal. Help VPAR achieve this goal as we strive toward “Building Legacies”. I’m asking all VPAR Broker members to strive for 100% RPAC Realtor participation in each brokerage company. We will need at least a fifteen dollar RPAC donation for members to qualify for participation in RPAC and of course greater donations are welcome. Any Realtor Company achieving 100% RPAC donor participation prior to June 30, 2018 will have their group picture placed in the VPAR newsletter, if they desire. We encourage 100% participation from all VPAR Committees, VPAR Brokers and Board members. At our January VPAR Board Meeting our Virginia Realtors Board Liaison Linda Buskey from the Eastern Shore challenged VPAR RPAC Chair Peggy Todd to a 100% RPAC participation contest. Peggy accepted the challenge, let us all work together to win this challenge. “We got this" As I conclude February's article, I will close by saying “ do something good for someone this month, not because it's something you must do, but because it's something you want to do.” Carl D.
