HI-Y SPONSORS PLYMOUTH

HI-Y SPONSORS PLYMOUTH ROCK PART II To increase its funds and to provide a bit of entertainment for the Thanksgiving holidays, the Hi-Y held a dance for the Springer students. A fter much discussion and planning, a night was chosen and final arrangements were made. The theme of the festivities was Plymouth Rock Part II, in honor of the season. Dressed in their best dancing duds, students arrived prepared to spend the evening "shaking a tail-feather" to the rousing beat of the Sensational Rock-A-Teens. From 8 to I I the crowd enthusiastically danced and then cooled off at the refreshment bar. It was generally agreed that a good time was had by all. A fte r the last song was played and the band began packing up their instruments, the Hi-Y tallied its successes in both money and enjoyment. The Sensational Rock-A-Teens tune up before the dance begins. Springers "shake a ta il feather" at the H i-Y Plymouth Rock Part II Dance.

"Pop the Panthers . . . Frizzle Fritz . . . Springer S p irit never q u its!" cheers Brenda G riggs a t the Springer Fritz Fry. FRITZ FRY IS INGREDIENT OF PEP WEEK "Pop the Panthers . . . Frizzle Fritz . . . Springer Spirit never quits!" This was the rousing theme devised by the varsity cheerleaders for Pep Week which ended with the Highland Springs versus Hermitage game, November 5. During the week, the Hi-Y, Key Club, and the senior homeroom presidents helped the cheerleaders spark "Springer Spirit" by participating in daily pep rallies. On Thursday night, the traditional bonfire was held in the school's parking lot. Led by the band and the cheerleaders, a crowd of enthusiastic Springers worked up steam in preparation for the Friday night bout with their old rival, the Hermitage "Panthers." A "panther hunt," a "Fritzfry," and the spirited signs put up around school by the cheerleaders kept the key thought present in everyone's mind— "Beat Hermitage!" "W hen you see us coming, be tter step aside!" yell the varsity cheerleaders during a Pep W eek rally. 103
