Highland Springs High School, Highlander 1966 Yearbook
H.8. AIDES EASE ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS RH Springer students contributed valuable services to various departments o f the school by working as aides. In the main office, girls relieved the tremendous tasks of answering the phone, typing and mimeographing tests, making announcements, filing records, and running errands. Guidance aides also did their share o f errand running and signing out college and-vocational m aterial. Students volunteering their tim e in the library always had plenty to do, too. They manned the check out desk, replaced books on the shelves, and handled overdue fines. Also working in the library were the audio-visual aides, who had the job o f the maintenance and operation o f the school projectors and phonographs. O rdering new records and film strips was another o f their duties. In the clinic, student aides were well supplied with "suffering" Springers on whom to practice their knowledge o f first aid. By giving up their own time, students were able to add to the efficiency and convenience o f the library, the clinic and the main office throughout the school year. Brenda Bailey performs one of the necessary duties she must carry out as an office aide, locating students' names in the student directory. Library aide Danny Wayne takes one of the library's record players from the it to a classroom.
Lois Briel, a guidance aide, explains a passage in one of the college handbooks. If IRt Of HI I* i "Poor, sick" Teddy Kuester is attended by a "serious minded" clinic aide, Peggy Blevins, before being allowed to go home. Before leaving the library, Linda Hockleman has library aide Barbara Christie stamp her pass. 57
