INTER-CLUB COUNCIL HAS

INTER-CLUB COUNCIL HAS A.F.S. DRIVE Since the Inter-Club Council was affiliated with the S.C.A., its meetings were presided over by the vice-president o f the S.C.A., Ronnie Burruss. The eighteen members o f this group were presidents o f the various clubs a t Highland Springs. The Inter-club Council served to improve the school's clubs and committees and to solve any problems th a t they m ight have. One large project of the council was to raise money fo r the American Field Service C om m ittee. W hen this comm ittee, which sponsored the foreign exchange student program, needed funds, the Inter-Club Council asked all clubs at Highland Springs to contribute. In striving to make all o f H ig h land Springs' clubs worthwhile, the Inter-C lub Council requested that all presidents justify the existence o f their club with a w ritten report. Through the council's efforts, Highland Springs' clubs assumed im portant roles in student life. President ............................................................. Marilyn Hood Vice-President..................................................... Susan Kaufelt Student interest and participation in the objectives of the Honor Council were significantly improved by the council's consistent attention to prom oting honesty in all aspects o f student life. To arouse the students from their usual vague and apathetic feeling toward honesty, the H onor Council presented an assembly to Highland Springs' entire student body on March 20. Two seniors from Huguenot High School, Larry Jackson and Paul Conte, explaining the effective honor system of their school, inspired Springers to renew their concern and respect fo r their own honor system. Through their meaningful and effective assembly, the Honor Council helped the students to see the necessity o f honesty not only on all academic levels, but also in business, society and personal living. Honor Council member Brenda C atlett types a list of objectives to be given out to the representatives at the next meeting.
