Fire Extinguishers
LIFELINE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
For 2019 the Motor Sport Association will be adopting the
FIA regulation for extinguishing systems, with a phase out
of the existing MSA regulation at the end of 2021.
The UK manufacturers of fire suppression equipment have
agreed that from the 31st December 2017 they will no longer
manufacture systems that comply with the existing MSA
regulation and will only produce systems that are FIA approved
to either FIA Technical List 16 or 52. MSA systems currently in
use will continue to be accepted for use in national events up
until the end of 2021.
Furthermore, the MSA from 1st Jan 2018 will require that
all fire extinguishing systems are serviced in line with the
manufacturers and the FIA requirements.
The UK manufacturers will continue to support those systems
currently in use up until the end of 2021 or the end of the
systems service life, whichever comes first.
With this in mind, for 2018 Lifeline Fire and Safety Systems
have consolidated their range of on-board extinguishers, having
re-engineered and re homologated their FIA Technical List 16
systems, in the light of knowledge gained from conducting the
higher level Technical List 52 homologation that Zero 3620
range conforms to.
In addition to this all cylinder designs have been updated to
ensure greater structural integrity with a minimum burst
pressure of six times working pressure.
For 2018 Lifeline will only manufacture systems conforming
to either FIA technical list 16 & 52. Lifeline will no longer
manufacture and supply systems to the MSA Blue book
requirement. Lifeline will continue to support those products
already in use up until the end of their life (10 years from
manufacture) or the complete phase out of the MSA regulation.
