Special Acme Taps
Information Form for Special Orders
Acme threads are used for producing traversing motions on machine tools as well as in the manufacture
of valves, jacks and other mechanisms. Due to the thread form, acme thread engagements are usually
longer than standard 60º thread lengths, therefore they require a much longer chamfer length on the
tap or sets of taps. The length of the part to be threaded, the diameter, the T.P.I. and material are
prime determining factors in arriving at the proper chamfer length and whether it will take one tap or
several to do the job. In many cases a single tap, properly designed will suffice.
In an effort to provide the correct tap for your application, please forward the information requested
below, or when replacement taps are required, it is necessary to supply the used tap(s) or blueprint to
ensure the new tap(s) are manufactured exactly the same.
