Voted as the best land-based whale watching in the world, De Kelders virtually guarantees you superb whale-watching opportunities in season, which runs from July - December. ELIM: QUAINT MORAVIAN MISSION STATION Elim was established in 1824 and is well-known for its beautiful thatch-roof church, and quaint and colourful "fishermen's" cottages. It's worth a visit on the way to lunch at The Black Oystercatcher (see restaurants below), or as part of a longer drive to Napier. FASCINATING & UNIQUE FYNBOS The Cape Floral Kingdom is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the only floral kingdom to be fully contained within a single country, and has the highest known concentration of plant species in the world. Most of the vegetation in the area is fynbos, which is unique to South Africa. BEAUTIFUL BEACHES Many destinations can boast of beautiful beaches, but not that many can boast of beautiful white sand, combined with spectacular mountain backdrops, fynbos vegetation and whale and dolphin sightings. There are at least seven beautiful beaches in the immediate area.
