Broken Hearts
Max I. Reich saw a sign in the window of a repair shop which read:
“We mend everything except broken hearts.” When Mr. Reich entered
the repair shop, a young Jewess came forward to serve him and he
said: “I saw your sign, and want to ask what you do with people who
have broken hearts.” “Oh!” she said: “We send them to the hospital.”
“You are a Jewess, are you not?” responded Mr. Reich, “Did you
ever read Isaiah 57:15? ‘For thus saith the high and lofty One that
inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive
the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.’
And,” continued Mr. Reich, “there was also He who read Isaiah 61:1, in
his hometown synagogue at Nazareth. The verse contains the words
‘He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted.’ And,” said Mr. Reich,
“the Messiah added, ‘This day is this scripture fulfilled.’”
Yes, Jesus Christ is the healer of broken hearts! Perhaps you
have experienced the pain and hurt of a broken heart and it seems
the future holds nothing for you. Maybe you have even considered suicide
during some dark and hopeless moment. I have good news for
you—the Lord is actually closer to you because of your broken heart!
The Bible says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken
heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18). It
also says, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their
wounds” (Psalm 147:3). We are assured that “a broken and a contrite
heart, O God, thou wilt not despise” (Psalm 51:17). I urge you to let
Jesus heal your broken heart! In Matthew 11:28 He promises, “Come
unto me, all ye that…are heavy laden, and I will give you rest!” Just
go to Him in sincere prayer, humbly ask Him to forgive your sins, and
He will mend your broken heart!
Clutter Control By Janis Roth Kester, Certified Life Coach
Are you tired of the mess? Getting irritated when you can’t find things? Do you want to make a change?
If you said yes to these questions, you are not alone.
Janis Roth Kester
Certified Life Coach
610-597-7393 / janiskester@yahoo.com
Facebook: Happy and Content — Life Coaching
When you get your clutter under control and become more organized, it will help your health—mental and
physical. Cluttered spaces will drain your energy. Too much clutter can be a fire hazard. Cluttered homes
collect dust, mold and possibly animal dander which are unhealthy for anyone, especially if you suffer from
allergies or asthma. When my ‘cluttered’ clients call me for help, many of them tell me that they feel
‘overwhelmed’ or ‘suffocated’ every time they look at their clutter. This is no way to live.
Many of my clients feel the need to clean an entire room, or a whole house at one time! My basic key is to
start small. (*unless it’s necessary for a major decluttering in a short amount of time due to an upcoming
event/party, putting your house on the market, a family member moving home, etc…) I recommend working
on one room or even one closet or drawer at a time.
It can be difficult deciding what goes and what stays. I have found this technique extremely helpful.
Label 4 boxes or bags—KEEP; DONATE/SELL; TOSS; NOT SURE
Anything you still wear or use—KEEP
Something you have not used or worn in a year and it is still in good shape—DONATE/SELL
Anything torn, stained, broken—TOSS
Remaining items—NOT SURE
Keep the NOT SURE for 6 months. If you have not used or needed an item, donate or sell. After you learn how to get rid of clutter, your next step is to organize.
An important part of clutter control is having a place for everything and everything in its place.
This is brief information concerning clutter control and organizing. As we all know, having too much clutter has an impact on many parts of our lives. Overflowing
magazine racks, no space on kitchen tables, drawers with way too much shoved in them, items setting on stairways, stacks of unopened and opened mail, and the
list goes on. This makes it difficult to find things, develops safety issues, and causes stress.
Everyone who deals with clutter understands that something needs to be done! Sometimes all you need is a little help and motivation to get started. Please feel
free to contact me; I’d love to get you started to living a clutter-free life!

Meet Miss Fancy
Are you looking for a mellow, low maintenance couch stealer?
If so Miss Fancy is your girl.
Fancy has such a sweet soul but is a shy gal. She prefers a quiet
home with a low key canine as she is. We don’t know her
background, but she came in as a stray and we suspect she was
not treated with kindness. She is looking for a home that is
patient, kind and loving.
Fancy is great with a low key dog, cats and children who will
understand that she is shy. She enjoys being pet, car rides and
couch loafing. She will require a fenced in yard or must be leashed
at all times as she is a hound and will go where her nose takes her.
FAMILY FEATURES
For many households, there are some
requirements when you make time
to prepare a family meal. Each
component must be something
you can prepare quickly around extracurricular
activities and homework, and it
must feature foods that even the pickiest of
eaters will happily devour.
These simple recipes can help you focus
that precious time on catching up around
the table together. Find more familyfriendly
recipes at Culinary.net.
A Sweet Dinner Idea
Chicken is a favorite for all ages, and this
recipe gives crunchy chicken a sweet twist
that’s sure to earn clean plates. Baked, not
fried, these tenders are a healthier take on
traditional dippers. The tangy barbecue
sauce and sweet honey mixed right into the
breading makes them tasty on their own,
but even better dipped in a sweet honey
barbecue sauce that complements those
flavors. Look for more sweet meal ideas
at honey.com.
Honey Barbecue Baked
Chicken Tenders
Recipe courtesy of The National
Honey Board
Servings: 4
2/3 cup whole-wheat flour
2 1/2 cups whole-wheat panko
breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/3 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup honey
2 pounds skinless, boneless
chicken tenders
nonstick cooking spray
Honey Barbecue Dipping Sauce:
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons honey
Heat oven to 400 F. Cover baking sheet
with parchment paper.
In large bowl, mix flour and panko with
salt and pepper. In another large bowl,
whip together barbecue sauce, milk, eggs
and honey. Dip tenders in wet mixture
then generously roll chicken tenders in
panko mix. Spray tenders with nonstick
cooking spray.
To make Honey Barbecue Dipping
Sauce: Combine barbecue sauce and
honey, stirring together until fully mixed.
Place chicken strips on baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes. Flip tenders and bake
until cooked through and outsides are
crisp, about 10 minutes. Serve with Honey
Barbecue Dipping Sauce.
Create Lifelong Memories
in the Kitchen
Give your family an opportunity to
spend quality time together in the
kitchen by engaging little ones. Simply
involve them in the process to teach
them some lifelong kitchen skills while
having fun.
Turn cooking time into family time
with these tips from Uncle Ben’s
“Ben’s Beginners” campaign.
1. Have Kids Set the Table. Convince
your kids to help set the table by
putting out utensils, plates and
napkins. It’s a simple task to get
children of any age involved in
family routines.
2. Let Them Stir. Give those fidgety
fingers something to do by letting
kids stir ingredients.
3. Get Clean. Use this time to teach
food safety as your children help you
scrub produce. As a bonus, it also
helps reinforce washing hands.
4. Count on the Counter. Put your
kids to the test to help count and
measure ingredients as you add them
to the recipe.
5. Rock ’n’ Roll. Blast some fun tunes.
This can help hold kids’ attention
while working.
6. Share the Joy. Make every moment
sharable by staging the final product
for a quick photo shoot.
7. Have Fun. Dress for the occasion
with matching aprons and chefs’
hats. Tweak recipes to embrace your
family’s interests and make dinner
something to smile about.
kids in the kitchen, and for recipes the
entire family can cook together, visit
Easy Rice
Prep time: 30-45 minutes
Servings: 6
1 box Uncle Ben’s Long Grain
& Wild Rice, Original
Recipe
2 1/4 cups water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter,
divided
2 cups chopped leeks (white
parts only)
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon finely chopped
fresh sage
1 large clove garlic, passed
through press
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In 2-quart saucepan, add rice and
spice packet, water and 1/2 tablespoon
butter. Bring to boil, cover and reduce
heat to simmer. Cook 25 minutes.
In large skillet, melt remaining
butter. Add leeks and cook over
medium heat 15 minutes, stirring, until
soft and golden. Add orange juice,
lemon juice, sage and garlic. Cook
over high heat 2 minutes, stirring
constantly. Add cooked rice to skillet
and stir 1 minute until rice is hot. Add
salt and pepper, to taste, and cinnamon.
Delicious Dessert in Minutes
These no-bake frozen cupcakes are the perfect size for a light and refreshing afterschool
or evening dessert. Creamy and tart, they’re just the right blend of flavor
for a treat the whole family can enjoy. Even better, the prep time is minimal so
you can whip up a batch after bedtime and have them ready to enjoy the next day.
Or ask your little ones for help with making the cakes for a fun activity together.
Milk or Nestlé Carnation Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 container (6 ounces) frozen lemonade or limeade concentrate,
partially thawed
1 tub (12 ounces) frozen light whipped topping, thawed
grated lemon peel (optional)
stir well. Stir large spoonful of whipped topping into mixture. Fold in remaining
whipped topping. Spoon evenly into liners.
Freeze 2 hours. Cover; freeze several hours, or overnight, before serving. Garnish
(NAPS)—Some eye conditions cannot
be corrected with eyeglasses—but
they can be helped. If you have a cataract,
a condition in which the lens in
your eye has become cloudy and vision
becomes blurry—as if you’re looking
through a foggy windshield—you need
to see an ophthalmologist.
As physicians who specialize in medical
and surgical eye care, ophthalmologists
treat all diseases and conditions
that affect the eye. You will first need a
comprehensive dilated eye exam. The
ophthalmologist will dilate your pupil
to see the back of your eye to make the
cataract diagnosis.
Here are some vision changes you
might notice if you have a cataract:
• Difficulty seeing clearly or sharply
• Seeing two images instead of one
• Being extra sensitive to light, needing
to shield eyes to prevent eye pain
• Trouble seeing well at night or needing
increased light to read
• Seeing bright colors as faded.
EyeCare America
May Be Able To Help
If you are concerned about the cost
of the exam, the American Academy of
Ophthalmology’s EyeCare America program
may be able to help. This national
public service provides eye care through
volunteer ophthalmologists for eligible
seniors 65 and older, and those at
increased risk for eye disease. To see if
you or your loved ones are eligible, visit
www.aao.org/eyecareamerica.
My Vision Is Blurry, But Eyeglasses Don’t Help
If everything looks foggy, even
when it’s sunny out, you may have
cataracts. See an ophthalmologist
to find out.
Together, you can decide whether you
are ready for cataract surgery.
Surgery is the only way to remove a
cataract. During surgery, your ophthalmologist
will remove your eye’s cloudy
lens and replace it with an artificial lens.
If you decide to have cataract surgery,
your doctor will discuss several options
with you.
Check to see if you are eligible for
EyeCare America by completing a simple
online questionnaire. There are more
than 5,500 volunteer ophthalmologists
across the U.S. waiting to assist you.
Since 1985, EyeCare America has
helped nearly 2 million people with
sight-saving eye care and resources. More
than 90 percent of the care provided is
at no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.
Grateful patient Connie, from Toledo,
OH, said, “Thank you for the chance to get
help. I went 20 years without checking my
eyes.” EyeCare America is co-sponsored
by the Knights Templar Eye Foundation,
with additional support from Alcon.
