Broken Hearts 

Max I. Reich saw a sign in the window of a repair shop which read: 

“We mend everything except broken hearts.” When Mr. Reich entered 

the repair shop, a young Jewess came forward to serve him and he 

said: “I saw your sign, and want to ask what you do with people who 

have broken hearts.” “Oh!” she said: “We send them to the hospital.” 

“You are a Jewess, are you not?” responded Mr. Reich, “Did you 

ever read Isaiah 57:15? ‘For thus saith the high and lofty One that 

inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy 

place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive 

the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.’ 

And,” continued Mr. Reich, “there was also He who read Isaiah 61:1, in 

his hometown synagogue at Nazareth. The verse contains the words 

‘He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted.’ And,” said Mr. Reich, 

“the Messiah added, ‘This day is this scripture fulfilled.’” 

Yes, Jesus Christ is the healer of broken hearts! Perhaps you 

have experienced the pain and hurt of a broken heart and it seems 

the future holds nothing for you. Maybe you have even considered suicide 

during some dark and hopeless moment. I have good news for 

you—the Lord is actually closer to you because of your broken heart! 

The Bible says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken 

heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18). It 

also says, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their 

wounds” (Psalm 147:3). We are assured that “a broken and a contrite 

heart, O God, thou wilt not despise” (Psalm 51:17). I urge you to let 

Jesus heal your broken heart! In Matthew 11:28 He promises, “Come 

unto me, all ye that…are heavy laden, and I will give you rest!” Just 

go to Him in sincere prayer, humbly ask Him to forgive your sins, and 

He will mend your broken heart!

When you get your clutter under control and become more organized, it will help your health—mental and 

physical. Cluttered spaces will drain your energy. Too much clutter can be a fire hazard. Cluttered homes 

collect dust, mold and possibly animal dander which are unhealthy for anyone, especially if you suffer from 

allergies or asthma. When my ‘cluttered’ clients call me for help, many of them tell me that they feel 

‘overwhelmed’ or ‘suffocated’ every time they look at their clutter. This is no way to live. 

Many of my clients feel the need to clean an entire room, or a whole house at one time! My basic key is to 

start small. (*unless it’s necessary for a major decluttering in a short amount of time due to an upcoming 

event/party, putting your house on the market, a family member moving home, etc…) I recommend working 

on one room or even one closet or drawer at a time. 

It can be difficult deciding what goes and what stays. I have found this technique extremely helpful.

Anything you still wear or use—KEEP 

Something you have not used or worn in a year and it is still in good shape—DONATE/SELL 

Anything torn, stained, broken—TOSS

Keep the NOT SURE for 6 months. If you have not used or needed an item, donate or sell. After you learn how to get rid of clutter, your next step is to organize. 

An important part of clutter control is having a place for everything and everything in its place. 

This is brief information concerning clutter control and organizing. As we all know, having too much clutter has an impact on many parts of our lives. Overflowing 

magazine racks, no space on kitchen tables, drawers with way too much shoved in them, items setting on stairways, stacks of unopened and opened mail, and the

Honey Barbecue Baked 

Chicken Tenders

Servings: 4 

2/3 cup whole-wheat flour 

2 1/2 cups whole-wheat panko 

breadcrumbs 

1/2 teaspoon salt 

1/2 teaspoon pepper 

1/2 cup barbecue sauce 

1/3 cup milk 

2 eggs, beaten 

1/4 cup honey 

2 pounds skinless, boneless 

chicken tenders 

nonstick cooking spray 

Honey Barbecue Dipping Sauce: 

1/4 cup barbecue sauce 

2 tablespoons honey 

Heat oven to 400 F. Cover baking sheet 

with parchment paper. 

In large bowl, mix flour and panko with 

salt and pepper. In another large bowl, 

whip together barbecue sauce, milk, eggs 

and honey. Dip tenders in wet mixture 

then generously roll chicken tenders in 

panko mix. Spray tenders with nonstick 

cooking spray. 

To make Honey Barbecue Dipping 

Sauce: Combine barbecue sauce and 

honey, stirring together until fully mixed. 

Place chicken strips on baking sheet. 

Bake 10 minutes. Flip tenders and bake 

until cooked through and outsides are 

crisp, about 10 minutes. Serve with Honey 

Barbecue Dipping Sauce.

Easy Rice 

Prep time: 30-45 minutes 

Servings: 6 

1 box Uncle Ben’s Long Grain 

& Wild Rice, Original 

Recipe 

2 1/4 cups water 

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 

divided 

2 cups chopped leeks (white 

parts only) 

1/2 cup orange juice 

1 tablespoon lemon juice 

1 tablespoon finely chopped 

fresh sage 

1 large clove garlic, passed 

through press 

salt, to taste 

pepper, to taste 

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 

In 2-quart saucepan, add rice and 

spice packet, water and 1/2 tablespoon 

butter. Bring to boil, cover and reduce 

heat to simmer. Cook 25 minutes. 

In large skillet, melt remaining 

butter. Add leeks and cook over 

medium heat 15 minutes, stirring, until 

soft and golden. Add orange juice, 

lemon juice, sage and garlic. Cook 

over high heat 2 minutes, stirring 

constantly. Add cooked rice to skillet 

and stir 1 minute until rice is hot. Add 

salt and pepper, to taste, and cinnamon.

These no-bake frozen cupcakes are the perfect size for a light and refreshing afterschool 

or evening dessert. Creamy and tart, they’re just the right blend of flavor

Servings: 18 

1 frozen pound cake (10 3/4 ounces), reduced-fat or fat-free 

1 can (14 ounces) Nestlé La Lechera Fat Free Sweetened Condensed 

Milk or Nestlé Carnation Sweetened Condensed Milk 

1 container (6 ounces) frozen lemonade or limeade concentrate, 

partially thawed 

1 tub (12 ounces) frozen light whipped topping, thawed 

grated lemon peel (optional) 

Prepare 18 muffin cups with 18 liners. 

Cut pound cake into 18 slices. Using 1 3/4-inch round cookie cutter or 

appropriate size to fit into paper liners, cut slices into rounds; discard cake scraps 

or save for another use. Place cake rounds into paper liners. 

In large bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk and lemonade concentrate; 

stir well. Stir large spoonful of whipped topping into mixture. Fold in remaining 

whipped topping. Spoon evenly into liners. 

Freeze 2 hours. Cover; freeze several hours, or overnight, before serving. Garnish 

with lemon peel, if desired.
