THE POWER OF RICE & RICE BRAN COPRICE STRATEGICALLY UTILISES RICE AND RICE BRAN IN ITS FEEDS TO PRODUCE BALANCED, CONSISTENT AND HIGHLY DIGESTIBLE RATIONS FOR HORSES AND PONIES. THESE SCIENTIFICALLY FORMULATED PELLETS PROVIDE OPTIMUM NOURISHMENT FOR HEALTH AND FITNESS TO ACHIEVE CONDITIONING AND PERFORMANCE TARGETS. ORIGIN OF RICE BRAN Rice bran is the outer layer of the of the rice grain, removed by polishing brown rice to become white rice. It is a highly nutritious product that is a rich source of energy, protein, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and fibre, therefore a valuable ingredient to add to feed to boost the nutritional content. RICE MILLING PROCESS Paddy Rice Brown Rice White Rice Rice Hulls RICE BRAN DIGESTIVE BENEFITS OF RICE Feeding trials conducted at the University of Queensland have demonstrated that rice is digested in the small intestine. This is extremely important for horses and ponies. Feeding other grains such as corn, barley and oats can result in undigested starch following from the small intestine to the large intestine. This undigested starch can then ferment resulting in excitability ‘fizziness’ and digestive upsets. The rice brain oil in diets high in rice bran may enhance the digestion of starch in the small intestines, for rice bran oil slows the rate of digestion through a horse’s stomach and intestinal passage. This allows for more time for complete digestion of starch and helps reduce the risk of acidosis, colic and laminitis, which are associated with the fermentation of starch in the horse’s hindgut. NUTRITIONAL BENEFIT OF RICE BRAN The health and productivity benefits of rice bran in equine feed are well documented, having been well-researched in Australian and international studies. Rice bran contains: • A high oil content (up to 26%), providing a great source of energy. • A significant amount of protein (up to 15%), which is essential for muscle growth and development. • A well balanced amino acid profile, that compares favourably with other cereal bran. • Highly digestible form of Metabolisable Energy. • An excellent source of vitamins B and E, which help strengthen the immune system and support energy metabolism. • Antioxidants, macro and micro-minerals, which contribute to superior health and improved condition. RICE BRAN & RICE BRAN NUTRITION FEATURE Rice bran oil is a form of concentrated energy. BENEFITS Rice bran oil is the very best source of cool ‘low fizz’ energy for horses, for it is easily digested, therefore will not heat horses up. It also has been shown to assist in reducing the risk of founder, colic, gastric ulcers and ‘tying up’ in horses. D B1 A C B 2 B 3 B 5 OMEGA 6 D B1 A C B 2 B 3 B 5 Rice bran oil has a ‘glycogen sparing’ effect on energy availability. Rice and rice bran contain protein of high biological value. Rice bran is an excellent source of vitamin B7 (biotin). Rice bran is an excellent source of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid). Rice bran is an excellent source of omega 6 fatty acids. Rice bran oil in rice bran is an excellent source of fat soluble vitamins. Rice bran is an excellent ource of vitamin B3 (niacin). Gamma oryzanol – a powerful antioxidant. This means the horse can use rice bran oil as a source of energy, and conserve the energy stored as glycogen in its muscles. The energy available from rice bran oil, assist in delaying muscle fatigue and boosts stamina and endurance. The higher the biological value, the greater the availability of amino acids for absorption. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, which are an essential part of a horse’s soft tissue, being vital for growth, tissue repair, breeding, lactation and overall well-being. Biotin is an important nutrient for horses, it is part of many reactions that involve the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is promotes and maintains the growth of healthy hooves and coats. Pantothenic acid is an essential nutrient required by the body and is involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and protein to energy. Rice bran oil is high in linoleic acid which is an omega 6 fatty acid. Omega 6 Fatty acids are important for the condition of skin and coats. Rice bran is a great source of tocopherols and tocotrienols, both highly effective antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect cells against damage from free radicals, which interfere with celluar function by damaging genetic material, proteins and carbohydrates. Free radicals also contribute to health issues such as inflammation, reproductive disorders and cancerous development. Niacin is essential for the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats to energy, which makes it particularly important for horses undergoing exercise or training. Gamma oryzanol is a naturally occurring anabolic compound, which increases protein levels within cells resulting in improved skeletal muscle development. It works on the body’s endocrine system (a collection of glands that secrete hormones directly into the circulatory system), to increase fat metabolism and improve protein synthesis. Gamma oryzanol helps maintain appetite in horses undergoing intensive exercise, and has been shown to help reduce the risk of gastric ulcers. AUSTRALIAN MADE. FARMER OWNED.
