Stephen Schuck Australian Open Golf Tea Tree Gully GC was well represented at the Australian Open Golf Championship this year by Bob Crosby head referee, Greg Thede and I as walking scorers for the four days. Kate and Andrew Crone, Steve Shuck & Greg Thede at the Pro Am
Our event started on the Wednesday with the Pro Am, my sister Kate Crone, The Australian Golf Club Associates President, was invited to play with the club champion, Members President and Zac Blair from the USPGA, it was a casual day which allowed us to chat freely with Zac and his caddy about life on the tour. Steve Shuck & Greg Thede on the 1 st eying off the silverware Over the next four days Greg and I scored for a number of golfers including; Nathan Green, Shilton who had a hole in one on the 11 th , Jake Higginbottom, Jamie Arnold, Peter O’Malley, Matt Goggin, Geoff Ogilvy and I had the privilege of scoring for Jordan Spieth on the Sunday. While the golfers did not interact with us too much during the rounds it was a great experience to walk 18 holes each day to see the trouble they get into and out of and their pure shot making. We hope to do it all again next year at the Lakes in Sydney. And no, I did not offer the players any tips! Andrew Crone Seniors Moments A Seniors, Senior moment, it was the last minor round game of the season for our elderly pennant team playing at Grange just recently. Norm cordina arrived quickly went to the ProShop to get a token for practice range balls, heads back to his car opens the boot only to realize that he had left his clubs home. Back to the Pro-Shop again to hire some clubs buy some balls and tees, $70 later he tees up and still wins his match with hired clubs. Nice one Doris.
