All of activities still are to take place, as planned, including following event programs. • Cultural food sampling • Country exhibits • Photo booth • Henna artist • Games around the world • Traditional folk dances • World coffees tour with Starbucks • Famous spin-the-prize wheel with Dave & Buster’s • Silent auction • Raffle baskets The eighth annual international festival Taste Of Jerling is to be held from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 16 at Jerling Jr. High School, 8851 W. 151st St. in Orland Park. During the Heritage Month in February, the school holds an annual international festival to celebrate cultural diversity and heritage of its students in Orland School District 135. The district has introduced more than 35,000 students to international and cultural experiences by hosting a one-of-a-kind festival of the nations. The goal of our festival is to celebrate every student, regardless of their nationality and language. The Taste Of Jerling gives students of ethnic minority groups an opportunity to showcase their culture and diversity. It is to feature more than 18 different countries around the world and their cultures, helping the students to learn empathy and inclusion. The Parents for Education expect 300 people attending this event, which will include country-specific food, interactive country exhibits, traditional folk dances around the world, passport activities, silent auction and themed raffle baskets. This year, the PFE is partnering with following local businesses, such as Starbucks, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Burger 21, Trader Joe’s, and Dave & Buster’s. To ensure the quality of our multicultural programming, the PFE holds a silent auction and themed raffle baskets, and provides giveaways. Township seeks singing seniors for Feb. 20 audition Submitted by Orland Township Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady and the Board of Trustees are looking for singers ages 55 and older to try out for Senior American Idol. Auditions for the annual Orland Township Senior American Idol are to take place Tuesday, Feb. 20. Each contestant is to sing a 2-3 minute segment of a song of their choice, a cappella, for a panel of judges. At the end of the evening, the Top 16 contestants will be selected to compete at the finals in May. Auditions are to take place on at the Township Office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. in Orland Park.
