Chapelwood Foundation Summary Report 2016

Dear Friends of the

Dear Friends of the Chapelwood Foundation, We are pleased to present the 2016 Chapelwood Foundation Annual Report. Your gifts have made a difference in many lives, both young and old, through opportunities in schools, our community, and the world. The Foundation supports the mission of Chapelwood United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We embody God’s grace as we receive it to those who need it. In 2016, the Foundation awarded approximately $300,000 in college scholarships as well as grants to local and international charities. The committees that distribute these resources are very active and thorough in the stewardship of your gifts. We share God’s grace with college students through scholarships, mentoring and support during their college years. Many of the students in the Foundation Scholarship Program graduated from Northbrook High School in Spring Branch and are the first in their families to attend college. They want to be an example and a role model for their families and young people in their community. The Foundation awarded $110,000 in scholarships to over 50 students in 2016, and we feel blessed to be a part of their educational journey. We share God’s grace through community grants awarded to local organizations in Spring Branch and Greater Houston. The Foundation’s Giving Core Team funded many worthwhile projects this year, including a collaborative health project between two partner organizations. In addition, a Foundation grant helped provide enrichment activities for intellectually disabled adults so that they may live independent, full lives. In total, the Chapelwood Foundation granted $90,000 to 40 local charities. These gifts helped meet critical needs for families needing food, housing, medical care, employment, education, and other essentials. We share God’s grace through awarding global grants to amazing organizations around the world. The Foundation’s Global Grant Committee awarded funds that helped implement 250 clean water facilities in remote areas of Nepal. They also helped a women’s empowerment organization in Uganda strike out on their own to see their visions for women and children become a reality. The Foundation awarded $90,000 to 13 international organizations that show God’s love through caring for the most vulnerable. These gifts were given to empower and lift up individuals through education, job training, medical care, and emergency assistance. Thank you for your support of the Chapelwood Foundation through your financial gifts, Flame Alive membership, and estate plans. We appreciate your participation on our committees and the events of the Foundation. With your support, the Foundation will continue to share God’s grace and help those in need here and throughout the world. We pray you will continue to support the Foundation and embody God’s grace in our world.
