Tribe + Glory What began as the women’s empowerment program of a holistic community development initiative in a rural village in Uganda has become a tremendously impactful and important employment model with the exciting potential to be replicated in many other communities. “I want my business to be successful so that I can hire other women who are struggling and help them get back on their feet to realize their own dreams.” Tribe + Glory empowers and activates female entrepreneurs to achieve self-sustainability through relationship, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship. Kamuli Uganda is the new Tribe + Glory branch boasting 13 new artisans. Each artisan is a dreamer who holds her own entrepreneurship goals. New business ideas include a clothing boutique, a hair salon, and a wholesale charcoal shop. The women know the needs of their communities, they know their passions, and they are excited for the opportunity to work and make those dreams a reality. The question, “What will you do with the savings you will earn once you have a successful business?” was asked. Two women with transformation on their hearts and minds answered in the following manner: “I want my business to be successful so that I can hire other women who are struggling and help them get back on their feet to realize their own dreams.” “I want to be able to take care of more orphans. Once I have enough money to feed my own children, my family will continue to grow as we take in others.” The Chapelwood Foundation’s Global Grant Committee granted Tribe + Glory one of their very first grants as a new non-profit organization. We look forward to seeing the life-changing effects on these inspiring women. 5
