The immune system like any other system can’t function properly if out of balance. The first thing you should ask yourself when you feel discomfort or out of balance is, what did I do to cause the problem? Start with what you’ve consumed as the “Cause”. Our food supply is fraught with many obstacles to navigate, in our effort to maintain balance. Clearly, antibiotics in what we consume are a culprit. We’ve discussed that, so we won’t be redundant. There are thousands of substances, and ingredients allowed in the U.S. food chain that most people are not aware of. Section 201(s) and 409 of the Federal Food, and Cosmetic Act, identified by the acronym G.R.A.S. permits thousands of substances based merely on a history of consumption. That list does not include medications that a food animal probably received. Fats and oils (lipids) probably influence your immune system more than any other essential nutrient. Lipids consists of among other things, triglycerides and cholesterol. Imbalance in lipids cause all kinds of systemic mischief. The food ingredient that most assist in correcting that mischief is “DIETARY FIBER”. Dietary Fiber (soluble and insoluble) belongs to the carbohydrate group, which should be the bulk of your diet. Among other things, soluble fiber lowers bad cholesterol levels, and through the regulation of PH levels, insoluble fiber is thought to prevent microbes from producing cancerous cells in the colon. Finally, cancer survivors have to be very diligent. Research the GRAS list (see the FDA website), and assume medication and chemical residue in any animal product that is not identified as “organic”. A good rule of thumb is your daily total fat should not exceed the dietary fiber. Both can be found in the nutrition facts statement of your food label. Or, you can mitigate some of the saturated fat in that prime steak with a fiber supplement. All of our clients get their own QR code for free when purchasing an ad.
