New Mexico… Where is it? New Mexico is a state in the Southwestern Region of the United States of America. With a population of approximately two million, New Mexico is the 36th most populous state. With a total area of 121,590 sq mi (314,900 km 2 ), it is the fifth largest and fifth least densely populated of the fifty states. It is one of the Mountain States and shares the Four Corners region with Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. Its capital and cultural center is Santa Fe, while its largest city is Albuquerque. Due to its geographic location, Northern and Eastern New Mexico exhibits a colder, alpine climate while Western and Southern New Mexico exhibits a warmer, arid climate.

Party like a local and watch the races unfold from the comfort of the bar. Governor’s Feast at Acoma Pueblo Discover the centuries-old history of New Mexico’s southwest Indians. Acoma Pueblo offers a window in time where Native people carry on the customary traditions of their ancestors through Native American pottery making and tribal celebrations. Educational tours and cultural exhibits are designed to generate a broader and deeper understanding of the Acoma People. Mardi Gras in the Mountains Join us for six days of Mardi Gras events, where the party starts on Thursday and keeps going through Fat Tuesday. Pajarito Skiesta Skiesta has been a wacky spring event that celebrates the unique mountain culture of Los Alamos—the very first Skiesta was held in 1948 and featured music, costumes, and a 50-cent hotdog lunch! The tradition continues in 2018, where the mountain will pay homage to the wonderful sport of skiing and snowboarding.
