And there was an opportunity to meet some of the cast and organisers in Archerstown last Sunday afternoon including coordinator Marie Mulvey. “Brownstown Community Centre has always produced a great variety show and it is brilliant for everyone involved. We have adults in the shows who would have started as little kids singing and dancing in the chorus. It is hard work and it is a lot of work but it’s worth every minute,” said Marie. The show also includes Drumcree native John McCabe fresh from his triumphant appearance on last Friday evening’s Late Late Show. John teamed up with Mullingar dancing partner Olga Donellan to win a three couple dancing competition. Show director Ursula Cahill has once again written the hilarious sketches for this year’s show. The Annual Variety Show is therefore a mix of singing, dancing and sketches, with a production team that includes music producer Brendan Leavy, a light and sound man, choreographer Zoe Mc - Hale, a director, and over fifty children coming to perform from Fore, Glenidan, Delvin, Archerstown, Clonmellon and Collinstown. TOPIC • 15 February, 2018 MOTORING 35 2018 NEW FOR 2018 - THE KIA STONIC NEW ARRIVALS FOR SLEATOR KIA The Kia Stonic is one of the smartest cars in its class, with a range of technologies designed to enhance handling, safety, comfort, and convenience. The car’s intelligent packaging results in a spacious cabin and enables a high level of storage versatility. The shoulder line and rear wheel arches flow into the rear of the car, creating a broad, muscular shape. The rear lamps are technical in their execution, echoing the precision of the car’s headlamp details. Again, the bodywork’s smooth surfaces contrast with the straight lines of the bumper and rear skidplate. It’s a real headturner and fully customisable with factory two tone available and the option of painting your own colour choice using Sleator’s Bodyshop, who provide a factory finish with a life-time guarantee. Like the exterior, the Stonic’s cabin is based upon European design influences, with Kia’s European design studio taking the lead for its execution, and working closely with the company’s Korean studio. The Stonic’s cabin echoes the appearance of the exterior, combining straight lines and smooth surfaces. The interior brings together sculpted shapes with geometric forms, and the surface of the dashboard itself is inspired by the clearly-defined lines of the Stonic’s exterior. The painted dashboard panel in front of the passenger seat bears the same ‘tiger-nose’ detail as the grille, while vents at the outer edges of the dashboard even echo the shape of the headlamps. “With prices starting at €18,599 the Stonic is the perfect choice for this crowded SUV market and Sleators promise of exceptional aftersales and combined with Kias 7 year warranty, you can buy with confidence at Sleator Kia “ explains Criostoir Sleator.
